They last as well or better than most. I much prefer to use these when removing paint, powder coat, and mill scale. They do it faster than a flap disc and barely scuff the metal beneath. They don't last long whenever run against an edge tighter than 1/8" radius or even straight off the lip of a fresh cut with a little burr sticking up. It'll clean up bbs from mig welding well until you get right next to a junky weld with well adhered spatter, then the spatter will tear up the disc. Don't cry wolf just because you gave it the pepper and destroyed it immediately. You've got to be gentle and run the disc flat wherever possible.

Used the purple one, extra course I guess, to remove mastic from a wood floor along the edges of the baseboard, and it ate thru one disk and didn't even get the whole room done. Not sure if that's normal or not, but the price was right for 6 disks, so I thought I would give them a shot

I used this to take oil based paint off a spiral staircase. It made a huge mess but the unit was gutted so not a bit deal and you need to wear a mask while using as it creates very fine dust. It would be great if you can do it outside rather than inside the way i had to do it.

Very easy way to take paint off metal. Also I've used to clean my brick house where gutter down spouts are. Gets moldy around those. Cleans up really well, seems to last a fair amount of time
