Beautiful book
Whether you color or not this is just a beautiful book. The illustrations are enchanting and such fun to explore. I do color but because I love this author/illustrators work so much I always purchase two copies are reviewing each. One for coloring and one for backup!! Highly recommend.

Another beautiful coloring book by Hanna Karlzon – printed on both sides of the page
The media could not be loaded. I own a few coloring books by Hanna Karlzon and I was looking forward to receiving Magical Dawn which I purchased sight unseen on pre-order. The book is filled with designs in Ms. Karlzon's unique style. I think that the designs in this book are even more elaborate than her previous ones. There are many more jewels, animals, and lovely ladies.Because the book is printed two-sided, I'm being very careful with what I use to color in it. I've discovered that I prefer using my Faber-Castell Polychromos because 1) I like the way they work with the paper and 2) I like the color mix available for these designs. I also like to use metallic and glitter gel pens to add a hint of pizzazz to my projects. This has been true with my other copies of regular hardbound coloring books by Ms. Karlzon. I like her artist edition and postcard versions for use with my markers as those editions are printed only on one side of the page. This is what I found while coloring in this book and testing it with my coloring medium. I will list the coloring medium I use for tests and coloring in the comments section below.90+ pages of beautiful and elaborate designs by Hanna KarlzonPrinted on both sides of the pagePaper is heavyweight, cream color, somewhat smooth, and non-perforatedSewn binding with some glue as well. You can still snips the threads to remove the pages from the book but may have to contend with a tiny bit of glue on a few pages. I've not tried this as I want to keep my book together. Some designs merge into the binding area, especially those which spread across two pages. Because of the sewn/glued binding and the hardcover of the book, it is difficult to color into those bits. It makes it more of a challenge to tilt the book to get the right angle for coloringAlcohol-based markers bleed through the page. If you use these, you will have ink seep through and mar the design on the back of the page.Water-based markers, gel pens and India ink pens do not bleed through the page.Colored pencils work well with the paper. I was able to blend, layer the same and multiple colors using both oil and wax-based pencils with ease.

DEAR MS. KARLZON
Dear Ms Karlzon,I pre ordered this book, but when it arrived I was out of the country. When I returned I put it up and forgot all about it till now. Just wanted to say it was such a pleasure to color one of your drawings, In this case a young girl. Your drawings are so clean, nevertheless very detailed and beautiful it’s a pleasure to look at even without coloring. All subjects are so uncommon and different, you must be with the angels when you create them. Yet, you still leave us some space to create/add/modify if we please. All the specs about your coloring book have already been praised by other reviewers before me, so I won’t do that. I already pre ordered your next book Jewelry Box and look forward to it. Meanwhile I’ll get lost coloring Magical Dawn. God bless, Analu.#hannakarlzon #magicaldawn #magiskgryning

Every single book is almost the same
I appreciate good drawing from an artist. I bought the coloring book " Jewerly Box, Magical Dawn, Seasons and Summer Nights." After reviewing the pages I felt some of the pages were new. But every book has basically the same images. There are so many flowers, birds, mushrooms, cats, insects, crystals and faces that look the same and lips that are all drawn the same. It takes a long time to complete a page so I ask myself how many birds and etc. am I willing to color over and over again feeling that I now have 4 books repeating the same exact images over and over again. I can't draw so I do appreciate a good drawing. With so many images in the world why limit yourself to the same thing over and over again. If Ms Hanna started another book I would like to see children added head to toe images and different positions besides head images even a change of outfits which is also repeated in her books ( blouses). Just about every coloring book on the market has flowers, with that said there are so many varieties of flowers , birds , cats in the world why limit yourself. I hope future books will be different. On the plus side it is worth having at least one of her books.

Another beautiful book
Like all of Hanna Karlzon's books, Magical Dawn has been lovingly reproduced in the English language edition. There were some issues with paper quality in the second edition, so the publisher printed a third edition and replaced all defective copies free of charge. (if your book says July 2016 inside the flyleaf email the publishers and they'll send you the good one. On its own, the defective books just look like any other colouring book, but see them side by side with the first or third editions and there's no comparison.) One of the things I love most about these books is the magnificent paper quality - even though the pages are double-sided, the paper is thick and coated so that you are able to use water-based markers without worry about their bleeding through the pages, and even to blend them with the appropriate blending tool. Just don't scrub TOO hard with the blender or you might pill the paper. The coated paper takes pencil beautifully as well, so colouring these books is a pleasure whatever tool/s you decide to use.
