J.W. HARRIS, SB31, HA STA-BRITE 1/16 1# SPL10004

After much research, this worked just fine to replace a compressor on a refrigerator since I didn't have the equipment to properly braze the connections. Combined with HARRIS SCPF4 Stay Clean Paste Soldering Flux, the compressor was replaced and has been working for over a year now. I waited that long to review the product to see if the solder solution would actually hold up - from what I understand the difference between proper brazing and using solder is that, in that particular environment, solder sometimes fails due to compressor heat and vibration. As I've gotten a year out of it now, I think it's safe to say it's a doable alternative to brazing.

The product works good except I did get a leak after 2 years at the low pressure to outside unit connection. Probably my fault but not sure. Could have been the vibration or movement. Overall I like the product. I still believe using nitrogen is important even with this product. I tested it using some scrap pipe and still got the oxidation inside the pipe when trying to use as low heat as possible.

Bought it because I wanted to solder something together. It was my first time attempting to do that and well, it didn't go too well. I'm sure it's a good quality product, however, I'm too inexperienced to properly use it.

It seems to work very well.

StayBrite solder is a good low temp but strong solution for metals. This flux is needed to make it work.

Not for electrical connections but perfect for structural applications. High strength solder

I used with "LA-CO M-A Liquid Stainless Steel Flux Liquid" and solder flows so well that it was a breeze to solder. Set the iron temperature no more than 700F.

This solder works great for stainless steel and copper. I used a liquid acid flux.

bref la seul place ou je ne peux utiliser ce stay brite 8 pour faire de la soudure est sur la tête du compresseur ou la température avoisine le point de liquification du produit. Mes ailleurs que ce soit pour le branchement de l'unité extérieur ou du serpentin intérieur, c'est nickel...
