~Gorgeous Santana Album, Highly Recommended~
I just listened to this album for the first time and found it to be an outstanding musical experience. Running just over 50 minutes, my interest was captivated from beginning to end; lush, beautiful keyboards throughout, great drums/percussion, beautiful singing & of course Carlos Santana's brilliant guitar solos giving the landscape some fire. Lyrically, this is the album of a seeker although the questions posed are offered in the form of conclusions drawn by one looking for answers from Life. Although I did not always agree with these assertions, never-the-less I certainly understand them as parts of the human experience here in this world. Musically speaking, the absolutely gorgeous sound here on this album is WOW!!! Not Rock music, not Jazz, not even Fusion...but a virtuostic amalgam of all three musical art forms that I would compare most closely with Chick Corea's "Return To Forever" band from the same time period(the early 70's)but make no mistake, this is a distinctly "Santana" album. I feel that this brilliant album defies a firm genre "label" and must simply say that it is brilliantly beautiful & I highly recommend it-I'm absolutely delighted that I chose to buy this album & give it a close listen. Enjoy & God bless :-)

An Expressive And Sparkling Fiesta
With Santana maintaining their successful stay on the jazz fusion spectrum aswell as the occasional R&B or rock charts with mixed results, they would releasetheir next album in 1975, their sixth overall, when they again credited themselveswith individual credits listed for each song. Despite few problems, Borboletta hadmanage to become another successful venture for them as Carlos turned towarda casual complement of high-pitched guitar work while the percussions poundedaway to whom they handled the making of this album so well and in good hands.Backed by a track set beginning with Spring Manifestations/ Canto De Los Floresthat proceed with Life Is Anew, the harmonic serendipity charm of Practice WhatYou Preach, the delightful Give And Take, the instrumental landscape of Mirage,Here And There and the African-style title track. Though Borboletta (which standfor `butterfly' in Portuguese) did reached the Top 20 on the album charts and alsospent less time their, it would produce plenty of robust success, as Carlos leavesus plenty of room for percussion, keyboard and saxophone solos to set the mood(evident on Spring Manifestations), as well as Carlos' guitar (evident on PromiseOf A Fisherman) and vocals (evident on the funky guitar-led Give And Take) as itgives Borboletta it's style and finesse. The album features guest appearances bynoted jazz vocalist Flora Purim, Airto Moriera, and master electric bassist StanleyClarke, which makes this session a well-deserved classic and a dazzling listeningexperience that will give it some greater attention.

Another Masterpiece from Santana !
This album is not very well know for a lot of people even fans of the earlydays. Produced after "Welcome" it as the same spirit then "Caravanseraï" and sound closely to it even if there is new musicians. It must be consider as a beautiful achivement equall to the first four albums. This remastered Japanese new version is absolutely perfect and sounds much and much better then the first print. A real pleasure to listened to it (again and again). But the great surprise is the artwork with is original color (metallic blue) not the blue that we have even on the original LP. Maybe the most beautiful cover of all the Santana's album. If you like the first albums of Santana buy this Japanese version of Borboletta and you will enjoy again the great work of this unique period.

Santana's Masterpiece
Borboletta has long been my favorite Santana album, but it's one that has not received a lot of attention. It's enormously poignant, virtuous, and spiritual. This is Santana's creative masterpiece, reaching a clear, climactic epiphany seldom heard in music on Track 10's Promise of a Fisherman. It's also not afraid to take chances - starting out with a minute of Airto doing his unique, shamanic percussion thing to set the tone for this spiritual journey, and then closing with three delightful minutes of the same that will leave you asking how it could be over so soon. What comes in-between is superb, perhaps one of the great jazz/rock/fusion albums of all time.

A sublime masterpiece
I agree with the reviews I read. I can't decide if this was Santana's greatest opus. Or if it's " Moonflower ". I haven't listened to either in years. Just got iTunes and have been downloading my lifetime favorites. It's like I'm young again, hearing it anew. Speaking of which, "Life's Anew" is one of my top 5 songs all-time ! Leon Patella's very moving vocals, to this day, amaze me : sounds like no effort, naturally great.; and spiritually moving; and soulful as anything. Greatness all around on this masterpiece. And that album cover : perfectly done, just beautifully evocative of the music inside.

I bought it and I really liked it and when I read the reviews and Borboletta ...
Borboletta is a cd that I missed when it first came out. I had been to a Santana concert and it was when Carlos was into Indian music and I did not care for that type of music so I stopped buying Santana music. After Santana came out with Santana 4 with the original group (mostly). I bought it and I really liked it and when I read the reviews and Borboletta was mentioned in the reviews in a positive way I bought it also. I really like Borboletta. I enjoy the latin rock sound.
