The true story of army medic and conscientious objector Desmond Doss who, during WWII, saved 75 men without firing or carrying a gun. Special Features Include: The Soul of War: Making Hacksaw Ridge -- a comprehensive documentary detailing the making of the film including the real life people and story, casting, filming, special effects and stunts with interviews from Mel Gibson, Andrew Garfield and more. Deleted Scenes Veterans Day Greeting with Mel Gibson Theatrical Trailer --Lionsgate Review: A wonderful, TRUE, inspirational story. A must see. - I purchased this 4K Blu Ray with the hopes Hacksaw Ridge was a great war drama...up there with Saving Private Ryan, Platoon and Full Metal Jacket. I was not disappointed. The movie is a true story about Desmond Doss, played by Andrew Garfield. Doss enlisted in the army to be a medic during World War II. But for religious reasons, Doss refused to carry or use a gun. He wasn't an objector to the war, he simply wanted to help his country without killing. It truly is an amazing story that I was totally unaware of until I saw this movie. I won't give away the entire plot, but the story follows him from his youth through basic training to the battlefield. I researched Doss after watching the movie to see if this was another massive Hollywood exaggeration of a "true story." Best I could tell is most of what's depicted, as incredible and impossible as it may seem, IS TRUE. Garfield as Doss is excellent. He comes across as an "aw schucks" humble country boy. But underneath, Doss is an intelligent guy with incredible integrity. I can't say enough about how Garfield gets you to bond to Doss right off the bat...with I believe was his first scene in the church with his mother and her choir. Vince Vaughn is excellent as the drill Sergeant. He delivers a dramatic role with some of his humorous flair. Sam Worthington is another standout as the Captain who has to deal with a soldier who refuses to carry a gun. I generally have found Worthington's acting to be kind of bland in the past (especially in Avatar). But in this moving I thought he was great. Hugo Weaving also does a very nice job as Doss' alcoholic father. He helps deliver a couple of nice emotional scenes in the movie. The movie portrays the war (and war in general) realistically. I don't think director, Mel Gibson, is glorifying the violence or doing it for shock value. I think he expertly shows the randomness and extreme violence that takes place on the battlefield. The utter chaos as hundreds of men try to kill each other. Watching it, I felt saddened that this wasn't just a movie...this really happened. The movie has some choppy points when it tried to delve into exactly what caused Doss to be so adamant in his beliefs. But the overall movie will deliver an emotional viewing experience as you watch the story of this real heroes life. Review: Good movie - Good story and good movie overall.

A Masterpiece in 4K that will leave you Breathless
If you are a fan of war movies, then Hacksaw Ridge is a must-see. This film, directed by Mel Gibson, tells the true story of Desmond Doss, a conscientious objector who served as a medic in World War II. The movie is a powerful and emotional tribute to Doss, and this 4K Ultra HD version takes the experience to a whole new level. The 4K version of Hacksaw Ridge is an absolute masterpiece. The picture quality is breathtaking, with every detail of the cinematography crystal clear and vivid. The contrast and color range are simply amazing, and the HDR technology used in this release brings the battlefield scenes to life in a way that is both stunning and horrifying. In addition to the visual experience, the audio in this release is equally impressive. The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound mix is outstanding, with a dynamic range that captures every explosion and bullet whizzing past your ears. The sound effects are incredibly realistic, and the score by Rupert Gregson-Williams adds an emotional depth that will leave you on the edge of your seat. The special features on this release are also top-notch. The "The Soul of War: Making Hacksaw Ridge" documentary is a fascinating look at the making of the film, and the "Deleted Scenes" and "Veterans Day Greeting with Mel Gibson" extras are a nice bonus. Overall, Hacksaw Ridge in 4K Ultra HD is a stunning achievement. If you are a fan of war movies or just appreciate high-quality cinema, then this release is a must-have for your collection. It is a powerful tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of the men and women who served in World War II, and a testament to the power of the human spirit.

AN INSPIRING TRUE WW II STORY THAT IS WORTHY OF PRAISE AND ADMIRATION
Get ready for an amazing surprise and a very different (and true) World War II story. Desmond Doss (a fantastic Andrew Garfield) lives in rural Virginia with his brother, mother and abusive father. The story is slow moving but sweet as Desmond deals with his father's demons and as he finds love with a beautiful nurse named Dorothy (Teresa Palmer). When World War II starts, both Desmond and his brother enlist eager to serve their country. Desmond enlists with one caveat--not only will he not kill anyone, he won't even pick up a gun in training. Needless to say, even though he enlisted as a conscientious objector, he faces the wrath of the Army for not following orders to train with a rifle. The story slowly weaves its tale from his home to training camp. Desmond is eager to do his duty but as a medic and without a gun. Although seen as a coward, he proves to be the bravest soldier of them all. Get ready for the action and the surprise as we are thrown into the horrors of war. In one of the most deadly and decisive battles of the war, American soldiers fight for control on Okinawa from the Japanese. The Japanese take no prisoners and will fit to the very end. It's a bloody and hopeless battle and HACKSAW RIDGE shows it all. It's brutal in its realism but the story deserves to be told as Desmond miraculously saves 75 wounded soldiers from certain death. HACKSAW RIDGE tells a truly incredible and inspiring story. A "coward" becomes the first conscientious objector to win the Congressional Medal of Honor and the award was well deserved. Although he has a tragically abusive father (a former soldier who never dealt with the horrors of WWI), Desmond's life is fairly simple and carefree. He finds love, enlists and deals with the taunts of his fellow trainees for refusing to follow any order involving the touching or using of a gun. How this story shifts to battle is amazing. It's a long journey to the epic battle and the scenes are brutally real. HACKSAW RIDGE is among one of the finest World War II stories of recent years and deserves to be appreciated and praised. Vince Vaughn is uncharacteristically tough as the tough but caring Sergeant Howell. Andrew Garfield is the real charmer here is Andrew Garfield as Desmond. Garfield gives life and believability to Desmond and his warm, delightful smile will win over everyone's hearts. Be sure to wait for the credits and see clips of the real Desmond and Dorothy Doss and interviews with a few of the soldiers he saved that fateful day. It is one amazing story.

Fantastic WW2 film of a real life hero (but the excessive gore may turn some off)...
Very Powerful (and True) War Movie... I think this is Mel Gibson's best film by far. PROS: Powerful and well written story that makes you really care about the Protagonist. Shows the realities of war. Good representation of WW2 events CONS: Gibson went a bit overboard conveying the gore involved in war (rats eating maggot infested sculls, etc). It seems that the gore is glorified somewhat. I think that Saving Private Ryan hit the perfect balance in showing the realities of war. I've watched many WW2 documentaries that show gruesome death scenes, Ive seen dead bodies with flies and the like, but I've never seen rats gorging themselves on human flesh in the middle of a live battle. I don't know if those scenes really helped, they almost reminded me of a B class horror movie. FINAL: If you are interested in WW2, or are interested in the real life story of a real life hero, then go out and get this one. Just bear in mind that the gore and gruesomeness goes way beyond Saving Private Ryan.

Estojo quebrado
