Mayhew Select 45046 Lighted Claw Pick-Up Tool

Awesome tool. Used it to get a small toy that a kid stuck down a drain. Used it again to retrieve a tool that fell into my washing machine chassis when replacing a hose. Saved me the trouble of taking the washing machine apart completely ! The light is great too!I want more and longer ones to stash for an emergency.

This is a must have pick up tool for any type of fasteners, especially if you work with stainless steel or any other non-magnetic items this beats any magnetic pick up tool, I’ve ever tried, blows them all out of the water

I purchased this lighted claw pick-up tool for myself and my sons. We all love them! What a wonderful and USEFUL idea to have a light on the end of the claw pick up. This way you can see what it is your grabbing in the dark and tiny places you would use the tool. Again, GREAT IDEA!! and very useful! Deb

UPDATE 3/15: unfortunately I have to edit my review, as the LED light stopped working after only a few uses of this tool. It's an LED light, it's already INDESTRUCTIBLE, and yet they managed to build this so sloppily that it breaks? Stay away, try a grabber from a better company:  MAXCRAFT 60184 3-in-1 Flex Lighted Magnetic/Claw Pick-Up Tool It's been awhile since I've given a properly deserving product a good review, and it's this product that finally makes me want to. Why? I bought this more or less randomly a couple days ago and I just retrieved a Bic lighter from under my bed with virtually no effort. The claw snatched it easily. Well made. The light is key for peering confidently into the dark crannies.After it saves you some back and/or knee pain fetching something under the bed or wherever, you'll see how useful this thing really is.

My only critique for this product is I wish that the light had an independent switch or some other method of activation. Right now what happens is you push down the plunger which opens the claw and turns on the light. As soon as you've picked up the item you're trying to grab and release the plunger to close the claw the light goes out and it's easy to hit the item on something on the way out and you drop it.I think either have the battery chamber twist in one direction to turn on or place a switch on the side to turn the light on and off and this item would be fool proof.

Bought this in March 2009 and used it approx 5x (its only for hard to reach places). I have it always standing by my drawers; two days ago, saw spring came out of the top part (handle) and the bottom claws protruded out and no one has access to my room so there can't possibly be any one tempering with it. Bought this as a gift last year also, but the status is unknown as it is still sealed in packaging...going to re buy this in a few days. If it breaks again (in however long), I'll definitely be updating this as it will be the end of the product line for me.

The light had trouble working right out of the box, You have to hold the plunger just right for it to turn on, and overall the quality of build is pretty poor. but nice packaging.

This is just what we had been looking for! Back in the day, they made these little pickup tools, so you could reach behind the workbench or desk or sink or wherever to pick up stuff. NOW its improved- with a handy little light to help you find the thing that is hidden away in the tight spot. When our old claw grabber went missing, I half expected we'd use this wonderful tool to find our old one. BUT this new one is even better. You push the button on the end which makes the the tiny claws open up and the light come on. Very easy to use. The flexible shaft allows you to look in places truly impossible to reach (think behind the installed refrigerator or stove), and grab the screw or tool you have dropped.
