Ring Video Doorbell by Amazon, Venetian Bronze, Works with Alexa + Echo Show 5 | 2nd generation (2021 release), Charcoal - Smart Home Starter Kit

After reading mixed reviews online, was unsure as to its reliability. However, we need to take reviews with a pinch of salt.I bought the Ring 2 Doorbell for a Christmas present at mother’s house. The installation was super easy, just had to scan a QR code on the instructions and follow the onscreen instructions to connect the phone to the home WIFI network and then connect the doorbell to the home WIFI, then the phone connected to the doorbell, before reconnecting to the home network, once the setup was complete it asks if I want to add other family members to the account so other phones will ring in the household when the bell is pushed.It is also really easy to pair additional devices to the Ring Network just by using the app and selecting add device, everything from additional ringers, Security Camera, Fire Alarms etc… you name it they seem to connect. Was a little surprised the Ring doorbell also found my Bluetooth speaker that had been left on in another room, as asked if I wanted to use it as a door ringer.The camera works great even at night, it is waterproof and we have been using it since Christmas day, it has been giving us notifications every time someone comes in and out the door, and transmits the image with sound. I have chatted with the kids through the doorbell and found the image quality to be great with no real lag. There is however a 3 second delay from the doorbell ringing to the image appearing on the screen, but this is fine.The Battery, As I have said we have been using the Doorbell for 9 days now, we have had 17 different family member coming and going over Christmas, we have had loads of notifications of movement detected and the doorbell is now at 92% capacity. This indicates that the doorbell loses about 1% a day and should be good for about 3 months, however its too early to say how accurate the battery monitor is.Charging is really easy; two security screws hold the bell onto the faceplate and then the unit is placed on a charger for 3 hours using a supplied USB that you plug directly into the doorbell. You can connect the doorbell to the old doorbell power supply to keep the unit charged up. Or use the Ring Doorbell Solar plate, or if you’re in a low light area can install a bigger Ring solar panel that comes with a 6-meter cable to keep the unit charged up.I highly recommend this device, for piece of mind, for reliability, for usability, and easy of setup.Please check out the two photos, 1st shows night vision at 19:07hrs on January 2nd, 2nd shows the bell in place and the third pulled form Amazon advert.

This is the way - of buying these devices for a pretty unbelievable price. Even if you have no use for both, you can return one device for a part-refund thus getting the other device for a rock-bottom price.You do need to want to be part of Amazon's eco-system and pay for Prime and Ring subscriptions, otherwise the devices are not a lot of use. Neither can easily be used stand-alone or used with 3-rd party firmware. If you are not planning to pay then look elsewhere.Both devices are reviewed elsewhere and I highly rate them both - for the above price. I cannot think of similar quality for the price - sure if you spend 2x, 3x, etc. then you get better quality/features but at this price point?

This has been a good purchase, I have been able to talk to delivery drivers when I was unavailable and make suitable arrangements and have been able to monitor activity outside the house.Easy to fit and works well with Alexa and mobile phone and the app it very good.My only criticism is that the unit takes a ridiculous amount of time to charge.

Bought a a special offer bundle, so exceptional Baker for money.I updated my existing ring doorbell to this version but am not convinced it is an improvement. My original Ring doorbell has a wider viewing angle which was comforting for security reasons and I miss that. This new doorbell also seems to have a delayed response in alerting me to someone being at the door and in allowing me to communicate with them. These things leave me still evaluating whether I will go back to my original doorbell.On the upside I do like the ability to leave a response message if I am away. The software however is better at switching from home to away but not so good at switching back when I return. I loved the first time it recognised I was back home and welcomed me in arrival. Unfortunately it only did it the once which is disappointing. I am still evaluating and hoping to eventually love it as much as my old doorbell. Watch this space.

Brilliant device, picture quality amazing. Bought this to add into our existing Ring alarm. Just a shame that you can only view history if you subscribe to a plan. So after the first month, you can only see real time viewing from the doorbell. For that reason alone, 4 stars instead of 5.

I bought this because I've heard people in my garden at night so use it as a security camera. It's got a great motion detector which alerts me to any prowlers on my phone and the picture quality is good even in the dark. I feel much safer now.

Pleased with this brought this so could see who was at my mums door and answer on my mobile. It’s good that it announce’s that someone is at the door. I have it set to all my Alexa product so it tells you all around the house and can also here it in garden better than a door bell

Purchased in the Black Friday sale and was pleased with the deal I got. Easy to set up and install, although I will say that the instructions could be updated as it kept referring to included tools, such as the mini level and dual ended screw driver that wasn't included in my set. Can't comment on the battery life yet, its been up for over a week and so far so good. The motion range can be a bit iffy, it will pick up on cars driving past the drive but not always when people are walking up it until they are right at the door. I've not changed any of the motion settings so this could make a change if I did.I set it up wirelessly with Alexa devices as the doorbell and it works well. Overall, pleased I chose this product.
