I recently had back surgery and had to limit my bending, including for bathroom hygiene. I bought this tool to help reach the places that need cleaned. Honestly, it looks like a pair of tongs. I guess you could say it’s toilet paper tongs. Lol I found that it works better with flushable wipes as opposed to toilet paper. The wipes stay more securely in the tongs. Toilet paper tends to shred and move. There’s a bit of a learning curve to use but the enclosed instructions help. It was useful while I needed. Can’t say I’m sorry to not need it anymore.

Best there is for cleaning yourself after using the toilet, when you have had surgery and cannot bend. I tried several other devices which did not hold the toilet tissue or wet wipe well. This is PERFECT. It's strong, easy to use, Strong is important because you will be needing to move it around to clean yourself properly and completely. It has a nice angle that allows you to get to all areas that need cleansing. The plastic coating on the tongs handle and clamping ends is very strong, smooth and sturdy. Easily cleaned with a disinfecting antibacterial wipe and / or soap and water. These have easily lasted 3 months as I recover from back surgery whereas a couple of plastic devices have already broken. Don't hesitate. This is the best there is.Update: One thing I forgot is this. Other plastic devices for this purpose tell you that they "eject" the toilet tissue after you use it by pressing a button or something similar. In my experience and opinion, they DON'T. Let's face it, when you use this product, the tissue paper will get wet regardless of how much you use. And so the tissue may stick to the device somewhat. And those other plastic devices, regardless of how many times I pushed the button, the tissue would not release. You will have NO problems with the tongs!. After you clean, you grab both handles and spread them apart. These strong metal tongs will tear any amount of toilet tissue you have used. After that, a couple taps and the used tissue is in the toilet. Not the case with the others, where I had to try to remove the used tissue enough to get it off. Yuck! Again, this is the best product for this job.

I recently had extensive back surgery and was advised to have this or a similar tool for cleansing purposes. I am fortunate enough to have a bidet toilet, which, for me, eliminated the need for the “tongs” during cleansing. However, this tool is amazingly helpful at pulling up clothing, picking up something close to where I’m sitting, etc. extremely helpful when when even a short “reacher tool” won’t work!

I absolutely love this! I have several muscular/joint/balance diagnoses, and I am overweight, and on bad days, it is difficult to maintain hygiene without some antics involved. A therapist once told me to just buy salad tongs to use after carpal tunnel surgery. Not quite what the doctor ordered.When I got on line, I was reading about all those plastic products, and I just wasn't happy with those reviews. I saw these metal tongs, and now I read that they are not long enough or they were too long. Let me tell you something that is the truth..... BUY THESE! They are just the right angle, just the right length. The bend is just right! I am buying another for my purse for travel. I will not be without a set of these.Put a sheet of toilet paper in between the tongs, and wrap to desired depth. Now I am short and the handicap toilet I have is too high for me, and not to be gross, but I do a quick wipe from the front to wipe excess urine, then I stand and put a leg on rim of toilet, and am able to wipe all the areas of interest, cleaning them with great ease. When done, I just open the handles, it breaks the toilet paper, and down into the bowl. I am a clean freak, and I know this keeps me very clean. This was a lifesaver for me. I fell and broke my elbow. Of course it was my right which is the one I use the most. After getting home from the ER I starting thinking about how I was going to do basic things (hygene). I realized quickly I was going to need something to assist me. I got online and starting browsing Amazon for an aid. I figured I could find something and get it quickly. There are more expensive and complicated items. Some got good reviews while others didn't. Many were made of plastic which some indicated broke after repeated use or they became less functional the longer you had and used them. I finally found this and thought ok this is simple and should do the job. It does and works well. Sometimes the paper my slip out but that's a small problem. I think the tension loosens up after a while also. Still it works great and does what it is supposed to do. For the price you can get one for each bathroom and one to carry with you if needed. It's been 5 months since I broke my arm and since it still doesn't work or extend completely I continue to use this aid. This is the longer version of the item but there is also one that is shorter(12"?) if that helps anyone.

I never thought I'd ever need one of these but due to having a back injury, I needed something to help with daily restroom tasking. I was embarrassed at first for needing it but once I ordered it, it was a life saver. Toileting was easy again. The only problem I have is that if you order 1, you better order 2. Why? Because they break after a while. This is my second one and it broke in the same spot as the first one. The metal part that goes flat, simply break while you're using it. If it weren't for that I would have given it 5 stars.
