Works ok, overpriced
This is the gold-standard for hot yoga towels, thanks to the silicone grips. I've seen this used in multiple studios across the country.I'll start with the pros:- It grips the mat better than other towels I've tried, and the towel stays put most of the time. You will still be readjusting and straightening it throughout class, though. Probably 4-6 times in a 75-minute class.- DURABLE. It's machine washable and very durable. At my studio, we have towels that have been used and washed up to 3 times per day for years and they're still not showing any sign of wear.Cons/Critiques:- It's definitely overpriced for what you're getting.- It's very skinny and barely reaches the edges of a regular-sized matt, let alone a wide mat.- It will hold a decent amount of sweat, and it does actually get grippier the wetter it gets, but only up to a point. For me, usually 40 minutes into a hot class, it's gotten so wet it loses the grip and I just put a regular hand towel on top to help me stay in down-dog.Tips:- definitely spritz down the mat before you lay your matt down, then the top of the towel before practicing. A little moisture actually improves the grip.- Avoid putting it in the dryer. Sometimes our studio towels do end up going through the dryer and they're still fine, but this probably degrades the towel over time.Overall, it's decent and performs better than any mat on its own (I've tried every "hot yoga" mat there is, and none of them stay grippy throughout a hot class, so I think a towel is just required). However, it's not stellar. But I don't know if there is anything better out there, so this seems to be the best for now.3.5 stars

Great (bought in 2017)
I’m not sure how relevant my review is, because I see a lot of reviews saying the towel has changed and isn’t the same product. I bought mine in 2017, so if you can confirm you’re getting the original yogitoes towel (or if you’re buying from somewhere else and you’re certain that’s what it is) then this would be for you.I’ve tried all the yoga mats claiming to be easier to grip the more you sweat. This has never been the case for me, and I’ve tried all the tricks, like sea salt on a new mat in the sun, using it for a longer period of time since apparently the more they’re used the grippier they get, but I HATE feeling like I’m going to slip from the sweat during hot yoga. So I just gave up and got this instead and wish I did sooner. I just roll it right up with my yoga mat and honestly use it more than I should probably between washes. I only have one and should probably buy some more so I can have one while another is being washed or is in the dirty laundry. Gross I realize, but I just mention it to note that it never smells bad or anything. My sweat in general doesn’t typically smell like anything, but I don’t notice any kind of musty smell. I use 10-15 times between washes. (Again, gross I know, but just being honest.)If you so hot yoga or sweat a lot and feel like it interferes with your practice, this is the perfect solution! If you don’t mind needing both the mat and the towel, just get this instead of wasting money trying multiple mats.

Great towel
While I don't do "hot" yoga, I do occasionally take outdoor classes during the summer and fall. I bought this towel to use on hot and/or muggy days when I know I'm going to sweat alot, as the sweat makes my mat slippery. The towel works great--I just make sure I dampen the entire towel before heading to class, and I also bring a small spray bottle just in case I need more dampness. The towel doesn't work well if it's too dry.The towel is slightly more narrow than my mat, which doesn't detract from it's usefulness as my feet and hands don't go anywhere near the edges of my mat during the poses where a firm grip is essential.I bought this towel in early 2020 for nearly one third of it's current price. I'm not sure I would spend the current price of $84.75.

No slipping in hot yoga, beautiful design, great quality
This towel is amazing. My husband gave it to me for Christmas because I’d bought myself another cheap one that didn’t work at all. After doing a hot yoga class with this I am so impressed. I didn’t slip at all! It grips the mat well and keeps your hands and feet in place, even in downward dog which my hands slip in even in regular classes. The design is beautiful and the quality it great. I highly recommend spending the money on this if you do hot yoga. Plus it’s made of recycled bottles! Absolutely love it.

I'm addicted! :)
I started doing yoga regularly about 10 weeks ago. During the first two practices, my poses (especially Downward Dog) were always a little "off," and my hands and feet would sweat from the very start of the practice! I tried using my instructor's more expensive mat--to no avail. My instructor then let me borrow her Yogitoes Mat during the subsequent practices. My poses improved significantly, and I got more out of the practice not worrying about whether my hands and feet would slide out from under me. I didn't realize how much of a difference it really made, however, until she forgot to bring the Mat with her one day. That was one of my worst practices ever! It was then that I decided to suck it up and purchase my own Yogitoes Mat.I read through the reviews prior to purchasing my Mat, and the general theme seemed to be that this Mat was amazing but that it bled all over the place when washed. Here's the ways I've tried to solve that problem:1. I wash my Mat alone on a small load of laundry in warm water. I use 2 Tide Stain Catcher sheets with every load. My Mat is purple, and they always come out bright pink---but my washer isn't stained.2. I tried air-drying my Mat, but it took a while. I tossed it in the dryer after having washed it with the Stain Catchers. I took out the Stain Catchers and didn't add any dryer sheets (I hear they mess with the Mat's stickiness). My dryer has never been stained purple. I don't know if it's because I used the Stain Catchers or what.3. If you don't feel like buying the Tide Stain Catchers, I'd suggest washing as instructed (2x before your first use, alone) and then attempt to air dry the Mat.Hope this review helps!
