Beautiful book to give a solid foundation in Zentangle
I love this book. It is privately published by the Zentangle founders, and therefore is pretty expensive, but I have been doing Zentangle for almost a year and I wanted to see how the founders would write a primer. Fortunately, I was able to get a copy of it through interlibrary loan, which gave me the information I needed to decide to buy it. I think it is probably worth the cost, since it appears to be a book that you can work through several times, and will get more from it each time. The things you'll get from it are not just the obvious step 1, step 2, etc, but more of the mental approach that is behind the practice. I am only partway through the book - working through the exercises, but am finding it very worthwhile. I wish it were less expensive so that more people and libraries could afford it, but the binding, paper, printing, and even the dust cover are all very high quality, and I'm sure that contributes to the price.

I love it!
I decided to try Zentangle only about a month ago when I found a book on Amazon called Zentangle Art Therapy (also a very good book). That book got me started, but because of my art background I wanted to venture into more creative design using Zentangling as a base. The forward of this book spoke directly to me. It is written by the authors' daughter, Molly Hollibaugh, who is herself an artist. She explains why it is necessary to follow the step by step instructions in order to learn the method and how doing so is "like finding a secret network of gentle paths in a multi-faceted forest". It is finding that path that opens the door to creativity. The authors explain that they have called this book a "primer" because it is written to support continued growth. That is exactly what I wanted and what I believe I can achieve with the help of this book. Like other reviewers I was skeptical of buying it because of the high price, but it is well worth the expense. I love it!

You won't be disappointed.
Amazing book!! I waited to buy it because it was so expensive. I love the creators of Zentangle though...and I really wanted the pages and pages of reticula and fragments so I bit the bullet. I am so glad I did!!There are tons of exercises and it's like a CZT class (or 3!!) that I can follow at my own pace and go back to at any time.

A Must Have For All Zentanglets
This is a must have book for all Zentanglets, especially beginners. It explains everything and the step-out patterns for tangles are well done. The book is very well written and is a keeper!
