Would this set off a smoke detector?

I would not think so. I have a smoke detector in the same room my trains are in and it hasn't set it off yet.

Will this work with a mr.christmas cannonball train

If the train has a spout for a liquid solution, yes! It smells so so nice too.

Will this work with Marklin locomotives?

Yes it works with any smoke unit, im using it in Flyer locomotives

Does it work on battery powered toy trains?

I don't know - mine is electric Lionel trains - and it works well
