I'm a little bit of a blade Connoisseur. I really appreciate the quality and the affordability of these knives. Really though, I appreciate the focus of these is quality and not flashiness or branding and marketing to overcharge you for poor quality. The quality at this price point is really excellent. I heard about Kai on a forum somewhere and I've been very pleased with their pro series. I have some much more expensive knives that don't look as good, perform as well, and won't last as long. The patterning isn't hand hammered its machine pressed, very attractive though. Also don't just be wasteful and replace your knives when they get dull. Buy really nice knives like these that'll last a long time and buy a nice sharpening stone to match.

I have a Shun Classic in the same shape. This knife is 1/4 the price but has the same feel and utility. It's my backup when the Shun goes in for sharpening, but if it were my only one I'd be fine with it.

This knife is a gift for my son. I had already bought one for myself and I love it. My only complaint is that the handle is a little on the small side even for someone with slightly smaller hands such as myself.
