Can this be used on the left side of the bed/couch? It looks like it wouldnt work so well unless you are on the right side of a bed/couch.

Is it collapsible to take to gigs, for example? I don't want to have to reassemble it each time.

It is not collapsible. You could remove or loosen five screws and take it apart enough to transport.

Do you have to press a button or anything to make it swivel? I need it to freely swivel for my elderly mom so she can push it out of the way.

I bought this to use after a recent surgery and it is not easy to adjust at all. It can "swivel" quite easily but if she needs to adjust the height, she will need help. It has two knobs that you have to turn to adjust and they are quite hard to turn. I just realized the question was asked back in January and am assuming OP has already decided on purchasing or not... but I hope it helps someone else.
