One of the best books on branding process!
This is a must-read book for every branding expert!A heavy, large-format, well-illustrated book with a clearly defined branding process. It describes everything from the history of branding to brand strategy, brand identity design, and everything in between (how to translate strategy into the design).PS. I had the pleasure of interviewing Michael on my podcast "On Branding Podcast", so if you want to get a quick preview of what's inside the book, I invite you to check it out.

Hands down one of the best books on the branding process out there!
I can't say enough about this book! As a creative who was looking for more of a defined process, I knew this book was exactly what I needed. It's SO easy to read, chock full of examples outlining his points, and VERY easy to understand! For those who are checklist people, this book gives you what you need. For those that are theory people, there are TONS of examples that outline the executions of the theories.Seriously, this book is a game-changer for those that are early in their creative careers or desire to see how more successful agencies do work for their clients!

A must read if you don't know how to translate strategy into design.
One of the many struggles I've been having was trying to figure out how to make the connection between strategy and design. This book has the step-by-step breakdown of that very process to do just that (as it clearly says on the cover). It's very in-depth with several examples and illustrations, including different tactics that can be applied to the unique problems you're trying to solve. It really gives you options. The book is thick (not an issue) but has many, many gems within it, in particular if you're not too familiar with branding or just want to expand your knowledge on the subject a bit further.

The best reference on branding I've ever seen — with accurate and updated information on everything from Supreme to Hillary Clinton's campaign for president this year.Includes concrete steps, thought processes, and workflows for anyone looking to do branding work for clients or themselves. I am especially enjoying the graphs where he positions multiple brands against each other to facilitate discussion on where you might want to position a brand in that same space. This book should find a home on anyone's shelf that's involved in the profession of design. Invaluable and a future classic.

An utterly essential book for professionals!
The clarity of the thinking, the writing, and the organization of this book are BRILLIANT! I absorbed it by reading it daily over breakfast in 15-minute increments, and then thought about Michael Johnson's steps during the day. Filled with illustrations from companies and organizations worldwide, the author shows what worked and what didn't work. If you are in a position to create or revise an existing brand, you NEED this book!

Decent Read, But Not a Keeper
The physical construction of this book is impressive, featuring Smyth-sewn binding, pronounced raised bands, and thick paper, which all signal a product built to last and endure frequent use. Despite these positives and my high hopes based on the reviews, the book didn't quite secure a spot on my shelf.I finished reading this in a couple of hours. Although not groundbreaking, the book is commendable for its innovative layout and the practicality of the author's brand model. Even though the examples are somewhat dated, being eight years post-publication, they maintain a degree of relevance. The author acknowledges other seminal works in brand strategy and design, positioning this book as a REPLACEMENT resource that addresses the entire process, including the unexplored middle ground between strategy and action. This could not be further from the truth. It might serve well as an introductory guide, but professionals may want to forgo this volume for something more detailed like 'Crossing the Chasm' for strategic positioning insights or contemporary design books for creative inspiration.

It's worth it!
No other book brings all the steps of branding together in such a coherent and easy-to-understand manner without losing the significance of any process.

My favorite branding book
I love Michael's book. I have followed one of his courses and wanted to learn more about his approach to branding. And this book just did that. The content is very easy to digest and applies the theory through eye-opening case studies, which allows one to properly reflect on the take aways of this book. I would say this is a great addition to your library if you are into branding, marketing and implement some of the lessons in your own workshops.

Ottimo libro. Great book! :)
Ottimo libro, illustrato e ben organizzato. Good luck!
