I didn’t even realize that my cat could develop dental issues, she’s not even that old. The Basepaws dental test was a real eye opener and now she’s scheduled for her first dental cleaning. It’s always great to learn more about my cat’s health!

This kit is easy to register, swab, and send to the lab. It took over two months for the results, which I expected a longer period with COVID. I received an email stating that testing needed to be done further due to the sample size. I received my results which consisted of 17 pages of pdf documents. With 17 pages of documents, I expected a little more details. The last six pages are the Appendix and Bibliography. Overall, the report covers what is stated, but I don't really see anything that is precisely personalized about the results in the report. The report says how to follow up with your vet and test again in 3-6 months. It would be best to just put the money into a dental cleaning/vet visit for the price point and waiting period.It was nice to see what was in his mouth and what was detected. I'm hoping that I can come up with solutions that will work best for him with some investigating. I don't know about the expense and recommended retesting. I've been trying to develop better dental solutions for him, but we haven't had a ton of success with at-home care so far.

The process is pretty simple. The hardest thing was just getting the swab to stay in his cheeks because my cat wasn't feeling too patient when I decided to try but we got it done. You have everything you need to register, swab and have it picked up by the usps. I've done DNA tests thru basepaws on both of my cats so I'm looking forward to the results of the dental test. Will update when I receive results.

The results arrived 5 weeks later, and I’m so glad that I got this kit. Turns out that my buddy is high risk for developing periodontal disease. I’ve since scheduled a vet visit to check him out and make sure his health stays on track. For the price of just $80, I’ve most likely prevented ten times that in vet bills and follow up visits. I’m relieved that I could catch it before anything even happens. Overall, I highly recommend ordering one of these dental test kits for your feline companion since their oral health is so important.
