When I say these are sharp, I mean slice through the sponge on accident while washing and wind up having a sleepover in the ER sharp! You could slice an atom with these things, they are the bomb! In all seriousness, these are incredibly high quality knives, the finish, wood handles, comfort, and balance of these are top tier. As with any knives of good quality though, do not run them in the dishwasher. Anyone who runs good knives or pots and pans through the dishwasher needs to have their kitchen confiscated.

This is a beautiful Knife Set. It's made of high quality metal and cuts everything with ease. You can't go wrong, buy a set!

One thing that I never considered was the angle of the knives in the holder. My current set of knives are set to about a 60-70 degree angle. The holder fits on the counter; under some cabinets. No problem pulling knives out. This new set, however, has the knives at about a 30-40 degree angle. The problem is that I can't pull the knives out without running into the overhead cabinet. I have to grab the holder and either pull it out from under the cabinet or tilt the holder so that the knife will clear the cabinet. Again, this is an issue that I never, ever even thought about.

My shun santoku fits perfectly into the santoku slot.

I absolutely love these knives, they are full tang, sharp (keep an edge) and durable.
