Q: what is the outer diameter of the outer most edge of this woofer? please be exact. I'm designing a box.

I know some 6.5" speakers are not 6.5", but these are. Replaced the woofers in my Dayton B652's (which are 6.5" outside diameter) and they went right in.

Q: Could I use this as a car subwoofer if I put it in a box?

This will give you better bass than most car 6.5's, but it's a replacement woofer for bpokshelf speakers mainly, but home stereo component 6.5's definitely perform better than car ones, some are even 4ohm.

Q: For those who purchased the speaker as a replacement sub for the Klipsch Promedia, how is the fit and does the amp power the sub as well as the OEM?

They fit perfect except the grill covers do not "push" back into place. Also you have to change the leads on the wiring because the connectors on these speakers are smaller. Really easy to do and they sound great. And yes the amp powers the sub and the OEM.. Super cheap fix, highly recommend.
