Ronstan Clear Start Race Timer - 65mm (2-9/16") - Black/White

Bought this for my son who is a youth windsurfer foil class , he is very happy with the quality and ease of use. Seems very durable , not easy to turn on but you need to follow the instructions carefully , it takes 10 seconds and pushing the button in sequence is very important. Very easy to operate .

PERFECTION- however I had hoped to use it as a regular watch. And well - it's a might LARGE for that - even though I like a large watch... this is more like a watch someone legally blind would wear. = ( However for racing it's IDEAL. Only problem - there is a 2 button press to START the display so the battery doesn't run down before being sold. I don't see a way to TURN OFF THE DISPLAY to save battery when not used... especially over the winter (off sailing season). = (

First off if you like big watches this is it. I don't know the first thing about sailing, nor do you want me at the wheel of any large moving vesselI since I can't see jack squat! I have been looking for a watch I can see and this is it so that's why I'm happy with it. The watch comes turned off which is cool, buttons are made so they can't accidently get pushed so when you go to turn it on make sure your actually pushing in all the buttons. I had a time with that but I finally got it. Also customer support got back to me pretty fast, it's not often companies want to help after the sail, ha ha get itUpdate : so the first watch I purchased just quit after like 2 months. Again customer service was cool and replaced it. So now again the second watch has now quit after two months. It seems they are not water resistant because both quit after getting wet. So this is the last watch I will purchase from ronstan, and I threw mine in the burning barrel with last weeks trash. I figure why send it back just to get another one that quits if it gets wet. I've tried several regatta timers. I was originally put off from this one because of its large size. But the others are junk. Particularly the Gill watch. Huge waste of money. But this watch is easy to use while sailing. Easy to see. The warnings are audible. The buttons actually work! Which they don't on many similar products. You can see clock time while waiting to start countdown timer. A major plus. If there is a shortcoming, the user instructions can not have been written by anyone who ever used the product racing. And they are printed so small one needs a 4x magnifier to read them.

We race our sailboat and needed a replacement starting watch, so we were happy to find this one here on Amazon.

My husband races our sailboat and he was asking about timers. So we checked out many websites and found this one in Amazon and got a great price with my Prime account. The product is very well made, and it was shipped and delivered as expected. The true test will be next summer during racing season!

I liked the ability to mount it on the boom of my sailboat and see the time once set for the start of a race. It was very convenient and just what I wanted.

I had a Ronstan Clear Start Race Timer for 10 years with no problems. Received this new model, followed the directions, and I could not turn it on. Called Ronstan tech support, and they walked be through some steps that also did not work. They said that this has been a chronic problem with this particular model. Sending it back for replacement, and requesting that they turn it on at the factory. Will review again after receiving replacement .
