Very disappoiinting
Thought this would offer insight into a patient's experience of aphasia and would support my studies,. The educational side was pushed in the blurb selling the book and this encouraged me to purchase it. Turned out to be a narrative of her love life, with aphasia being the sideline. More a story than educational. Very disappointed.

A wonderful, inspiring read
Lauren Marks book is a wonderful read... her unique and profound life-changing experience is generously shared with us. I was riveted from first page to last as she unfolds her story with such warmth, fun and intelligence. A Stitch in Time stretched my horizons, gave me new insights and had me laughing out loud. A World of Enlightening Surprises
True confession: In the early days of this book, I worked with Lauren Marks as she was finding her way back to language. Afterwards I watched and listened and paid close attention as her recovery unfolded. And still, I wasn't prepared for the impact of her memoir. The story is moving--yes. And learning of the ways in which the author discovered the connection between language, memory and identity is powerful and inspiring. But most of all, the I was amazed by the number of surprises in A Stitch of Time. I can honestly say this is one of those books you cannot put down, one you won't soon forget, and one that will change and deepen your understanding not only of language and memory and the nature of will, love, friendship and family, but it will change the way you see yourself.

Couldn't put it down!
I started reading the book last night, expecting to read a couple of chapters, but couldn't put it down, and ended up staying up all right reading and watching the sun rise as I finished. This book is a delicate balance of beautiful prose, engaging storytelling, and fascinating revelations about words, language, memory, relationships and finding and creating oneself through the challenges that shape us. The author also has a wonderful ability to flip back and forth between living through the massive changes in her brain and life and the hindsight with which she is writing the book, allowing the reader to experience both simultaneously. The book gives great insight into aphasia, recovery, and the many delicate balances that keep our brains functioning. Highly recommend to people interested in the more scientific subjects covered in the book, and those just looking for an engaging, engrossing story to suck you in and keep you up all night reading.

Lauren Marks "A Stitch of Time"
On Saturday June 24, 2017, I thoroughly enjoyed a Skype Chat with author Lauren Marks "A Stitch of Time".Like me, Lauren Marks has "Aphasia". She did this. In a big screen through Skype Chat, she let us into her world. Lauren's readings and Q&A sessions were amazing. I had a Skype Chat with her and others at The Aphasia and Caregiver Community Group. Me and the rest of our Aphasia group were inspired by Lauren.I bought her book and an audio translation. I will talk to anyone who had a stroke, aphasia, or caregivers to read this book. People like Lauren and others, I will become better every day. It was great to hear from her.Lauren Marks, "you have the right stuff to keep moving forward!"-Kelvin Jones
