I don’t know but it’s durable and my dog loves it!!! haven’t been able to find many toys that he doesn’t destroy almost instantly.

Q: Are the chess pieces in the bell ends likely to break free during chewing? Are they made of rubber as well, or plastic?

We have this for our Great Pyrenees puppy and they are hard core chewers. So far, so good! The whole thing is a single pour of rubber and the chess pieces are only painted to look different and stand out. They cannot separate from the dumbbell unless the entire toy fails. Hope this helps
