I knew nothing about these but using a few online videos I am now watching a few channels direct like NBC, COZI and Reach TV as well as NHK and CGTN on SES3 with a small repurposed oval DirecTV dish and Universal LNB.This box has PVR functions but you'll need to supply a USB memory stick. My Samsung TV can play the recordings on the stick directly by just plugging the stick into the back of the TV. The beep function was helpful for initially finding a satellite. Video quality is very good. Has all the good stuff I needed for my adventure in Free To Air satellite TV.

Good product

This is technically a good receiver for the money. However , be warned! You must know how to program a satellite receiver from scratch as no useful documentation (other than connection diagram) comes with the manual. There is some basic information on their website but its sketchy & limited. In addition please note that the pre-programmed satellite list on the receiver is for EUROPEAN satellites only. If using in North America you will have to add the North American satellites and delete all the European satellites if you wish. There is no documentation on their website on how to do this. Re-programming including blind scans on each North American satellite will take about 2-3 hours.
