Environmental Technology 128-Ounce Casting' Craft Mold Builder, Natural Latex Rubber

I had to use this for a sculpture class - it holds an incredible amount of detail, which is more than I can say for a plaster mold. It's lots of fun if you're into that sort of thing (which I am). Depending on the size of whatever you're making a mold of, this will take a few coats, each of which takes about an hour to dry, so it's a bit of a time investment. To give an example, I had a life-size bust that took 15 coats of this rubber. That used up about 3/4 of the gallon. But it's also very durable, picks up the texture of whatever you're making a mold from, and you can use it over and over again. So it's worth it for that. Who wants a life-size bust? Everyone on my Christmas list this year, as far as I'm concerned. I'm getting my use out of this.That said, use it in a well-ventilated area and be prepared - it smells like dead fish. Or something really bad. You don't want to accidentally get a good whiff of this.

We use this for tons of Halloween props. It does great in drying and holding your material in place. This is NOT for body or face applications, believe me when I say that. Additionally, make sure you have ventilation when using the product in a small environment. Strongly recommend, but will say, the price has gone up $20 in the past two years per can. I have been using this material for years to produce various custom molds and models of numerous anatomical structures. The material can be easily modified to satisfy specific physical properties. This is the lowest priced ( in one-gallon size) source I have found for this item.

This Mold Builder product has been the product of choice in applications where masking or mold building is required. Easy to work with and has a long shelf life.

Hard to find this size anywhere and am always forced to buy little 16 oz. containers from craft store if they even have it in stock. Been making molds with this product and works very well.
