Tree frog tadpoles love this
I have purchased this 3 times. I love to hear the tree frogs sing in the woods at night. This is the second year of having tad poles. Both Green and Gray Tree Frogs. (Charlotte NC area). I raise them in large tubs and let them go once they get their legs. I feed them multiple blanched greens, but they really love Josh’s Tadpole food. When I put Josh’s food in the tub, they swim on their backs and skim the surface with their mouths open. So cool to watch them.

Tree frog tadpoles enjoy it
I made the mistake of leaving the lid off my rain barrel trashcan and the tree frogs laid a LOT of eggs which became tadpoles. Sucker that I am for wildlife, I purchased this to feed them, and now happily there are more tree frogs to catch the nasty, blood sucking mosquitos. FYI, mosquito dunks to prevent mosquitos from breeding in the water didn't hurt the tadpoles.

Pacific Tree frog Tadpoles will thrive to adulthood in your water feature!
I live in a very suburban home in the San Diego area. We have a "water feature", a fountain in our succulent garden, about 5 feet wide and 2 feet deep. It churns a little. For three years we heard a frog singing out there, looking to mate. It was charming and sad as the frog was never successful. Well duh. The water needed to go stagnant yet we did not think of this. Last year the pump blew and it took awhile to get around to fixing it. Low and behold, 100s of tadpoles. I bought this food and fed (they went right to it), my husband occasionally, gently, refreshed the water and we got to watch at least 100 or more frogs develop. This year we heard the frog(s) again. Not just the one, as before. We spotted as many as 10 floating around in there, now much bigger, of course. So we turned off the pump and I just ordered the food again as it took just a few days for the tiny tads to appear. Yay for the resilience of nature. Glad to help with this food because I can.

Tadpoles love it!
Every summer, grey tree frogs lay eggs in anything with water in it on my deck, so I created a little “bog” for them. Sadly, only a few of the hundreds of tadpoles have ever metamorphosed into frogs before winter set in, so, this summer I decided to provide them with food. Previously, I just kept plants in the bog and let mosquitoes and whatever other insects lay eggs in the water, thinking that would feed the tadpoles. I started using Josh’s tadpole food last week and was pleasantly surprised when they started showing interest immediately. I hope this helps more of them to metamorphose and leave the bog before winter this year. Time will tell!

Killed Tadpoles
I had a container full of very lively Southern Toad tadpoles yesterday, but after feeding them a very small amount of this frog food twice, over half of them are dead!! I only fed them a very small pinch each time. The food is a very fine powder and it’s difficult for them to eat it because it floats on the surface where they cannot reach easily. They try to eat it, but it seems that they just can’t get to it. The food ended up turning the water very cloudy and green even though I only fed them a small amount. It’s ridiculous that you have to do a water change after every single feeding to keep this food from killing your tadpoles! Seriously, who has time for that? The photo shows the container they are in and the resulting cloudy water after only two feedings of very small amount of this food (along with all the dead tadpoles in the bottom.) I will be returning this product because something in it is apparently toxic to the tadpoles unless you change the water after every feeding. As others have said, it would be better (and cheaper) to boil some lettuce or spinach to feed them. At least that will not kill the tadpoles and turn the water cloudy and green after only two feedings!

Great!
A tad pricey, but my tadpoles love it! Make sure to follow the instructions and scoop up any uneaten food or it will leave a film on top of the water. Adding 5 stars for the scent, because this smells like straight fish! Lol all jokes aside, Thank you guys for an awesome product. :)
