Part of the wall mount is plastic. I don’t think this changes the sturdiness of the mount for its intended use as a curtain rod. But unlike other rods in this class, the actual rods have a smooth finish so it’s easy to slide the curtains from side to side. Other rods i looked at or purchased in this style had like a sandy grit texture to the rod so i had a hard time sliding fabric across the rod. This one has smooth finish to the rod. Final note: It’s super easy to install.

These were a lighter weight than I expected, almost plasticky, and the rods themselves are quite slender. I was afraid they weren't up to the weight of velvet curtains but 1 month in and they're hanging in there just fine, so maybe I was overly pessimistic. The brackets are annoying to install, but not significantly more annoying than other curtain brackets. Four holes per end plus the center bracket is a lot of measuring and drilling. My curtain rods came with an instruction booklet but the included "template" was significantly smaller than the actual bracket and entirely useless.
