Q: Would the side pockets be large enough for a 1 litre water bottle?

I think the 1 litre bottle will fit in ok but be more likely to fall out of you bend over. The smaller 330 ml fits snug. There's a strap to tighten it in.

Q: Does a 2 litre camelbak hydration bladder fit in the entrance for the hydration pack and is there a slot in the material for the tube?

Yes, I use a 2 litre bladder. It’s a snug fit but no problem, squeezing the air out before closing the bladder helps a lot.There are loops on the shoulder straps for the tube.

Q: Does a standard iPhone fit in the hip pocket?

Yes, a standard iPhone 12cm x 6 cm does fit in the hip pocket. I also have an iPhone 6S Plus which is too big for the pocket.
