Perfect for my K4SS!
This is my second purchase of a scraping mixer blade, but the first of this brand. My other was a cheaper, knock-off version that did the job, but I do notice a huge quality difference in this one. This feels so much sturdier. It works perfectly for my K4SS bowl lift model. It scrapes the sides perfectly and is SUCH a help when mixing any kinds of batters or frostings. Love it!!

works well
Plastic body of blade seems sturdy. Does a good job of keeping materials from sticking to side of bowl. However, this blade did not snap on as solidly as the original metal one. It fit loosely on mixer, but did not come off, so I guess it will be ok.

Works great for Royal Icing!
I bought this to make Royal Icing with. For those of you who are unfamiliar, royal icing is used to make edible flowers and decorations for baked goods. It's also used to construct gingerbread houses and the like. It has to be beaten for about ten minutes while your mixer is covered with a wet towel to keep the stuff from drying out. This beater blade scrapes the sides well and mixes the ingredients together without needing my intervention with a spatula. I have a Professional 5 lift mixer which was only produced for a short period of time. Therefore, I went to the company's web site to make sure I was purchasing the correct beater blade to fit my mixer and bowl. I can't speak to its expected longevity, it is lightweight and plastic so who knows? I've been using it for about two months (heavily) and no problems so far. My only complaint, and it's slight, is that the blade is a little hard to clean because the icing gets into the space between the red and white parts and hides there. I hand wash the blade since I rarely have time to wait for it to run through the dishwasher.

Plastic junk
I have a 6qrt kitchenaid with the original 9.5 in bowl, and this beater almost broke my mixer. When it arrived I was skeptical since it seemed cheaply made of plastic, and when I slid it on, it was loose and it didn’t seem to connect snugly. However, I tested it on low speed just to see, and lo and behold, my bowl was knocked out of place and a the machine began to grind before I could turn my machine off. There’s just no room on a 6 quart with the original glass bowl. Overall piece of junk.

KA-6LR Review (not the KA-5LR) LOVE THESE RUBBER SIDED PADDLES
I am trying to write a review for the KA-6LR but it is linking to the KA-5LR. I actually have both the 5LR and the 6LR. I have both a Professional 5-qt Lift-Bowl Itchen-Aid mixer that is over 20 years old, and a refurbished 7-qt Professional Lift Bowl Kitchen-Aid mixer. I have used the KA-5LR for several years now and have about three on hand at any time to be able to switch beween different cake batters without having to wash the paddle in between. Same for the American Buttercream Frosting I make which can be made from soft to stiff depending on my cake design needs. I was thrilled to find that there is now a KA-6LR for the standard 7-quart Lift Bowl mixer as one has not been on AMAZON before. I purchaed one and I will be purchasing a couple of more for the same reasons I have listed for the 5LR. I absolutely LOVE the 6LR rubber sided paddle. It fits the 7-qt bowl snuggly which I thought would be a problem, but it did absolutely fantastic on my double batch (4-lbs confectioner sugar) frosting at stiff consistency. I do not need to scrape the bowl anymore, but I do have to scrape the beater halfway through the mixing cycle because dry flour, mix or sugar can sometimes get caked on the sides of the rubber. But no big deal. So easy to use. Both the 5LR and the 6LR are heavier than the past models - much improved. I have only had one problem with an early model 5LR where the rubber pulled away from the plastic paddle, but none of those problems since my first one. I have only broken one 5LR when I didn't have it on the mixer completely and was mixing dough. It broke when it came off when the dough was too stiff . Totally my mistake.

It does what it says on the packet! it scraped down the sides and bottom beautifully with very minimal scraping by me. It mixed really well.

So happy with this blade. (Picture 2 shows it beside the regular blade for comparison). Fits my 5qt kitchenaid artisan mixer. It is made of plastic but seems like a harder material and not cheaply made. Have used a couple times already and it mixes very well. I still scrape the bowl and blade but only once maybe twice to make sure all the batter and fry ingredients got mixed well. The rubber seems to be holding up well; even if it starts to break I’ll order from here again. Well worth it!!
