There are many complaints posted that this ushanka is too large but it is set up for people either with a lot of hair to fold under it but primarily for wearing a balaclava underneath it.The faux fur trim over the eyes is as thick as it is to prevent windburns on one's eyebrows and to reduce glare from the snow and sky.The tiny over-ear flaps are to deal with incidental windburn issues with the basic design. Up, they address windburn over the ears, down they address windburn issues with the ears themselves AND those flaps hold your goggles in place when buttoned down.This is a minus 35 and below Fahrenheit ushanka for high wind chill factor environments not just a fashion statement. They get really warm fast.If you are a woman and the hat is still too large, find out what the koralya hairdo is all about. This is a good hat but is definitely too large for the small to average size woman’s head. Falls down over my eyes and makes it unwearable. Although the quality is good I wish there was sizes to select from or a way to cinch it

As far as warmth, its there. And the snap-on face mask is a plus. However the hat size advertised is not correct. I'm a grown man. The hat is too roomy unless you have a lot of hair and have a real big head. It will fit over a head cover if you wish to take up the space that way. The material is thinner than I expected because it does not hold a shape like a leather cap does when you take it off. You'll use two hands to put it back on unlike a real bomber hat that holds a shape. The ear flaps are just for show. There are no ear holes. The forehead fur is not moveable; no velcro or buttons for nappung and covering eyes. Its a cheap replication, but if you just want a cheap hat for going out to shovel snow, and you want water resistance that leather doesn't offer, you can't beat the price. The strap works, but is flimsy. You could modify all of the flaws if you can sew. You can put ear holes, add buttons, modify the strap, add some bulk for shape, and you can make a good hat out of it with minimal effort.

Got this for my coworker because he had lost his, and he absolutely loves it. Says it is much warmer and softer than his old one! Only thing he wishes is that the best part about the hat extended more and wasn’t as tight. Overall a great purchase!
