Barbie Collector Cyndi Lauper Ladies of the 80s Doll

As a long-time Cyndi Lauper fan, I'd thought about buying a Cyndi doll before-if anyone ever made one, that is. Well they finally did with Mattel's Ladies of the 80s line. Out of the 3 available so far, I think the Cyndi one is the best. Maybe it's because she is one of my favorite singers. But the quality is good and the look captures Cyndi in her She's So Unusual/Girls Just Wanna Have Fun heyday. I think this one is the closest to resembling it's model, compared to the others. It also really captures a certain time in the mid 80s. From her bright orange-red hair and red dress to her red shoes, the doll stands out with all that color. They gave her nice earrings, a couple of bracelets, an ankle bracelet, and a necklace with flowers on it. I really like the detail. The hair isn't exactly like in the photo, but I think if you opened it you could fix it the way you want. It's exciting to have a doll of a celebrity I've liked since I was a kid.The design of the box is nice too. I like the pictures they used, although they didn't really have to repeat the same photos over (they used the same ones multiple times), since there are many photos of her from that era. But it's cool.I've found this doll to be hard to find in stores, unlike the Debbie Harry and Joan Jett versions. It is also usually the most expensive. The only thing I have an issue with is the price. These were originally selling for $50, but prices have dropped in some places, including Amazon. [...] is still a lot for a plastic doll made in China, but that is about the best price you are going to find. In this case it appears to be well-made though, thank goodness, so at least you feel like you are getting your money's worth-especially if you are a Cyndi fan or 80s music fan.I was lucky and got two of these dolls in the past few weeks-one was a gift and one I bought myself. I plan to keep one in the box and open the other. Maybe it's the 80s-ness of it, but it takes me back to being a little kid in the 80s playing with my Barbie dolls.

This doll is very nice! It’s pretty, and it looks like Cyndi (as expected). The hair was a little bit of an issue, though. It was held in place by some kind of hard substance, which I just got out with water.

I absolutely adore Cyndi Lauper. I have listened to her music throughout her career. She is such a talented artist and is so willing to be herself, which I truly admire in people.This doll is a great representation of Cyndi from her 80s videos, complete with the dress, fishnet stockings, red hair and jewelry. True she does have Barbie's face - bygones - however, it is a wonderful addition to my 80s collection.

My 3.5 year old has just gotten interested in Barbies so when I was looking through the doll selection I stumbled across this AMAZING Cyndi Lauper doll and just had to have her for myself! I'm no doll collector so she has come out of the plastic box and is standing at my desk watching me work. It's hard not to have fun at work with a little bit of my youth hanging around to make me smile. I highly recommend this doll to any Cyndi fan - she is gorgeous.

I bought this as a gift for a daughter. She is a huge Cyndi Lauper fan, as well as a Barbie collector. This doll is not designed for young girls, as it is considered a Barbie collector doll. It is more appropriate for the teenage/adult collector. I was really impressed with the doll, since Mattel did an excellent rendition of Cyndi Lauper. Love the outfit! As Cyndi fans know, she has a flair for wearing "funky" clothes. For the Barbie collector, or just for a Cyndi Lauper fan, this would be a great addition to their collection.

Very pleased with this collector Barbie. It was a gift for our daughter who has collected Barbies since she was a small girl. She was thrilled.
