My husband is a truck driver and needs an extension for his cooler. Would this be able to handle it without melting or burning out?

If you can check his cooler for how much power or current it uses, then you can be sure. If it isn't written on the cooler somewhere, I would look up the cooler model number online. This extension cable is safe for at least 180W (Watts/power - probably closer to 200W) and at least 15A (Amps/current). BTW, you only need to look at either the power or current to be sure. So if the cooler current is about 15 Amps or less, you're good without knowing what the power requirements are.

Ad header states it is 14awg, description states it is 16awg. which is it? wire is rated for15 amps, but fused at 20 amps????

The wire is rated at 15A but fused higher so that the fuse is not blown should the user draw 15A. It is 16 AWG wire.

Yes - we have the CF35 cooler, and it draws about 5-6A max (and typically less, around 3A). This extension is rated to 15A, and should be perfectly fine for any of the smaller Dometic coolers.

One of the mail plug mail prongs was stepped on and broke off can it be fixed

Replace the male plug. I've done this many times. I use cigarette lighter plus to connect my outdoor trains power supplies.

Excellent Quality

I searched high and low for an extension cable similar to this that was less than 20 feet. Everything local to me was 20 feet or more and for the application that I was going to be using it in I did not need 20 feet or more this 12 foot cord was perfect for what I need it for to extend the power cable out of my Garmin GPS unit that is now wired into my RV.
