Can you use with shower rod

I don't see why not...they would work as long as the rod/cap doesn't have a super large diameter. My wall cups have a diameter of 1 5/8 inch.

Do these work on brick walls?

I would think so. The cups really help to keep the gate stable without having to constantly readjust it. As long as the tension is tight it should work just fine on brick.
