Wild HerbSoap Making Kit - Cold Process (Kit Includes Palm Kernel Flakes, Coconut Oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Mango Butter, and Vitamin E - (Crushed Oats + Honey)

This was definitely a kit to get thrown to the wolves in soap making. The fragrance I used caused the batch to seize. But the worst part it didn’t even suds. I’ve made many batches since this and even when they seized they still suds. I can’t blame the kit makers precisely because I can only give my experience using this kit.

So, this kit has basically everything you need to create your own soap from scratch, save tools and lye. Overall, it does what it says and that's good. But the kit only makes a rather small loaf, and there in lies the problem. It's not a big enough batch to use pots or the like of a useful size, so I found mixing it with a stick blender a bit problematic.What I learned from the kit is that making soap via the cold process system isn't hard, but it isn't easy either. I'd rather that the kit be about twice as large. My results are about 5 bars that are currently curing in my closet. I'll know in three weeks if I did a good job!Pluses: Good introduction to soap making using the cold process method. Let's you know what it takes to get serious about it.Minuses: Too small a batch. Tools needed double or triple the cost of making the bars. Realistically, I'm in over $100 to make five bars of soap. If I don't do it again, I'd have been better off to buy 5 of the nicest bars of soap in the world, and I have would have had cash to spare. The tools I'll use again, (I like the activity, so all the tools will be used over and over).In all honesty, I probably did a C- job of making soap with this kit. But it was a good introduction, and I'll be doing it again... Just not from a kit like this.
