Not a complete system
I bought this book because the cover features no-gi, and I wanted a complete reference for modern no-gi BJJ. For all the good reviews, I had high expectations.I think the book is adequate for gi, but the book has a lot of holes in the no-gi section. Among thetechniques missing which I feel are critical for modern no-gi: no leg triangle, no 50/50, no inversion or inversion defense. There is also no index, only a table of contents, so it is frustrating to quickly find the technique you want.Aside from the flaws, the book is well put together otherwise. The diagrams are easy to understand and well done. I think the author should have just kept to gi or no-gi instead of trying to do everything. The lack of leg triangles must be intentional for some reason, but it is the #2 tournament finish for no-gi, so its absence is a serious demerit for this book.I will probably reference the book occasionally, but I have gotten a lot more out of the videos I've purchased online than this book.

Clear concise step by step
Good step by step guide. Especially once you get comfortable and familiar with the basics. A good resource to go back and study details of techniques you may have missed in your class.

Great book to add to your training library
Lots of pictures, step by step breakdowns of techniques, a lot of information. That, is the con as well; A LOT of information. This is a great book as a supplement to actual training. No amount of pictures can give you the subtle nuances of actual instruction and live rolling. However, this book is a GREAT visual and mental aid to stay sharp.

Great outline of the techniques
This book contains lots of great techniques, that can become a valuable addition to any blue belt's arsenal. At the same time I disliked a few grammar errors in the book preface.

Hands down one of the best books on techniques.
I own several book on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques and this is the best. Whoever trains in Jiu-Jitsu knows that there are thousands of techniques and hundreds of variation for each one and tons of new ones that are created daily. So the only way you can really rate a book on techniques is by the lay out. This book has a ton of color pictures with easy to understand arrows to walk you through the move. And through out each techniques he points out simple mistakes or variations that can get you into trouble. I highly recommend this for anyone who trains. Remember practicing moves from a book can only help an already solid game. This means you need to be part of a gym/school/dojo to build/maintain and grow your game.

good for novice bjj practitioners
Good book that covers lots of offensive techniques. I appreciate the quality of the pictures , but some pictures seem to omit some grips or placement of some body parts due to the angle of the pictures. If you are familiar with BJJ and have been practicing for longer then 1 yr then this will be good for you. If you are a beginner then i would not recommend on buying this book.

Detailed and easy to follow
I'm new to Brazilian jiu-jitsu and I've been learning from this book. It doesn't beat going to an actual gym but for someone like me who doesn't have a gym near by its a great start
