Clever Cook 5 Piece Chef Knife Set with Matching Protective Sheaths (Blue)

They were as I expected them: high quality knife set. Now the knives are great and look like they can stand against time (once taking care of properly).I don't like the covers though. They are cheaply made and I expected a better compliment for the quality knife. Notwithstanding this, they do their jobs, now that's enough to ask for.All in all, they still get the 5 stars, but the sheaths need upgrading

I purchased this set of knives to replace a decades old set I own and because it includes the 5 knives that I use for 99% of my cutting. And actually I'm basing my review predominantly off of the 8" chef's knife as that is the one I reach for almost all of the time. These knives are lighter than I'm used to. This isn't necessarily a bad thing although it does take some getting used to. THey're so razor sharp however that I don't feel like I need the extra weight to help the blade through food. The reduced weight I believe is mainly due to the fact that these are not full tang blades. The handles instead are a non slip (rubber?...silicone?) grip that is very comfortable. I've put the knife through the paces and am able to make all the necessary cuts with ease. I was skeptical about the granite coating and thought it might be gimmicky but it really does seem to help keep food from sticking to the blade while you're cutting as well as make it easier to clean. Although they were plenty sharp from the factory I did run the chef's knife through my sharpener because I was curious if the sharpener would mar the finish at all and it did not. I received these knives at a discount price for testing in exchange for my review. I couldn't be any happier with them but if for whatever reason I have an issue I will update my review. One more thing... be very careful opening the package as it can look like the knives are in their sheaths...they are not. And they are sharp!
