It's a little pricey and maybe you could DIY your own but this thing works! Buried my umbrella on a very windy lake and it stayed put. It was super easy to do. I store the thing inside my folded umbrella when I'm not using it so I never forget it.

We love using a Shibumi instead of an umbrella but struggled to get holes deep and narrow enough for the poles. This tool is PERFECT and helps you get the Shibumi stable and secure deep in the sand. It helps a lot if you’re assembling on your own. We’ve had some bending of the cutting end in a few years of use in hard packed sand but it’s easy to fix with pliers. I’ve also used it to dig holes for bird house poles. Worth every penny!

I’m a middle aged lady who loves the beach and likes to protect her skin. This hoke digger does everything it says! I can put up my umbrella in 2 minutes or less and it stays up no matter what the wind is doing! It helps to clear the dry sand away and be sure to shake the sand out away from your friends! Lol I bought two of these to have an extra! It fits in my beach back pack perfectly.

such a simple design but it does an amazing job. it's super light-weight so it's no hassle to bring along and it makes a great hole. umbrella finally stayed in the sand :) even in the wind. the only thing i'd change is maybe make it 2 feet instead of 15" but otherwise, very nice. thank you! no more chasing my umbrella down the beach.

Our family goes to the beach every summer and have used several methods for setting up beach umbrellas to get some shade. (digging holes, sand screws, etc.) I saw this and used it for the first time this summer. It works exactly as advertised. You can dig a hole that's just the right size for the pole to fit in (without extra wiggle room) and deep enough so the wind won't pull it up in under a minute. It's small and lightweight and will fit right in the bag with the umbrella.
