The PenFriend2 Labeller features easy to use, bright yellow buttons and a 4GB internal memory. Use the included self-adhesive assorted labels on DVD's, CD's, prescriptions, medicine packaging, vitamins, cans, boxed, or freezer food, important documents, mail, appointment dates and times, cooking instructions, shopping lists; the list is endless! After recording each barcoded label, simply pass the pen over the label and it will automatically speak, no need to press any buttons. The PenFriend Labeller can be used at home, the grocery store, or classroom all without the use of a computer. The included USB cable is only included to back-up your MP3 recordings to a computer, but is optional. Also, included is free ‘PenFriend sticker management software’ which works with JAWS screen reader and free CreateLINK software to access sound enabled books, posters or maps.

Awesome for Blind People!!!
My daughter is totally black blind and she uses her PenFriend all the time. She can't live without it. She uses it to label her clothes, her cd's and dvd's, and all the food in her cupboard. And anything else you can think of!!! This offers her the opportunity to live like "normal, sighted" people, and live independently. She has her own apartment and couldn't function without this. She puts her recipes on cards with this. Its indespensible. This is an awesome device!!!!!!!!

Easy to use and extremely useful
This device works easily and intuitively. It even arrives all set up with batteries. You simply apply a sticker to whatever you want to identify, touch the sticker with your PenFriend and say what it is. Then, next time you touch the sticker, the PenFriend plays back your recording. It's easy to change the recording associated with a particular sticker, but you get plenty of stickers in the package so you probably won't need to re-record unless you make a mistake. But wow, it's great. It's small and simple.
I like the performance, but not read recorded data from the original pending friend model one please let me know if this version two can read data from version one.

Although helpful when working properly, our PenFriend required battery replacement every month (with light use only for taking medications in morning and evening) and has stopped working completely after only 13 months of use.

Works Great!
Love this. I am legally blind and was having trouble reading labels on my spices and medications. I was tired of always have to ask my family to help so I decided to get one of these and it has been wonderful not having to rely on my family. I am able to cook again without anyone home to help read me labels on spices! And I don't have to wait around for someone to be home to tell me if I am taking the correct medicine or if I am giving my youngest daughter the correct medicine when she is sick.

You can reuse the labels you create if you are careful.
I love that you can record your own custom labels for products you want to identify. This labeling system is helpful for blind and low vision people, who have trouble reading small print on packages or food cans and boxes.

Very useful tool for increasing independence as a blind person
I really love my PenFriend Labeler and would not want to be without it. It has definitely decreased my frustration at not being able to find things as a blind person, especially in the kitchen. It has become even more valuable to me as I teach my cited family members to label things for me automatically. I found it quite easy to learn and was up and running with it in the first hour after unboxing. Would suggest that users employ strategies for reusing labels, as they can be a little pricey if you end up using a lot of them and need to purchase more.
