Most are easy subtraction with the same denominator; however, some are mixed numbers and some are simplified. We will try the money game which is basically knowing facts like, "I have 4 quarters and two dimes" and the response is, "I have $1.20." My previous classes have loved the format of this game and it keeps everyone on their toes. I suggest teaching the game by playing the easiest one for your students. The cards are good quality. Let's play "I have...Who has...?My students enjoy this game and I even get the most reluctant students to participate. My students consider themselves lucky if they get two cards. As each card is solved, I write the next problem on the board to increase focus. Everyone writes. I do a walk around and give feedback on their work. We work against a timer and post the stats (cards completed in the designated time) for each class. They themselves figured out the rate of cards solved per minute ---and answered in fractions! Simplified!I don't play this everyday since anything can become old. I keep the box on my desk and wait for them to ask to play again.
