The running tables, form guides and pace references are excellent for any runner looking to improve.The reduction to 3 stars is because the narrative, if you read from start to finish, is a little jumbled. Not what you would expect for a book that's had so many revisions. One example of many would be the use of acronyms before you get to the section of the book that explains what the acronym is.This jumbled nature suggests to me that the book is better for an experienced coach than an individual runner looking to improve.What has since worked better for me is watching YouTube videos of Jack Daniel's coaching and then using the book as a reference for my pacing and training plans.

Tenho todas as edições e cada uma tem algo novo. Em relação a versão anterior, não há muita diferença. A maior diferença está na escolha das palavras e nas explicações. As partes novas, como meia maratona e ultramaratona podem melhorar, mas como o autor já tem praticamente 90 anos, duvido que haverá uma quinta edição. Mas ... é um livro fantástico.

This is a very good book for both beginners and experienced runners. It enlightens me withmany concepts, guidelines and principles that guide me toward a healthy and fruitful trainingfor half-marathons and marathons. The VDOT concept is innovative, and the training schedulesfor HM and FM are very useful. I followed one of its HM training schedule and that led me toa 3 hours and 5 minutes Marathon, which made me so happy

This books is useful for a beginner as well as amateur or even seasoned runners. Everything is explained well. You should read it at least twice. First time, read the whole thing and mark what is important for you at this stage of your endurance sport’s journey. Second, read and really learn the things that was marked.
