Simple, effective and a great value.
Simple and effective. I was worried about the ink drying out because it's open to the air - it hasn't yet and it's been several weeks. For the money, it's a great value and works great!

I like it!
I bought this for work and has been a lot of fun stampingXD!! i work on both dry and wet surfaces.I would say if you are working on a dry area this is the best stamp. On a dry area the ink is very clear, the size of the font is readable. It has helped me speed up when I’m packaging because I used to write the date manually, which slowed me down.Although, on a wet surface the ink does smudge but still works. Which is obvious, but what I found to work was to let the ink dry for a few seconds before getting into action. Oh! I would say when it smudges it’s honestly still readable, it looks like an indent or a light shadow, but the actual color of the smear looks like those art projects with the crayons and blow dryers lol. So on a wet surface it would not look pleasant if you are working with important papers.

Excellent date stamp!
This date stamp shipped with Amazon Prime free two day shipping and actually arrived in one day, which is always a pleasant surprise! The date stamp is of sturdy construction and changing the date is a simple task. Like a previous reviewer stated, there were no instructions in the box, but I would hope you are able to figure this thing out very quickly.Remove the lid from the supplied ink pad by first breaking the two tabs off of the side of the ink pad and the lid pulls off easily. Slide the ink pad into the date stamper with the ink pad surface facing downward, which will allow the date stamp portion to come in contact with the ink pad. Make sure the ink pad locks into position (you will feel it catch and lock itself into position). In order to very easily change the date and avoid getting ink on your fingers, first depress the date stamp until the date stamp portion is nearly all the way down. Simultaneously, push the two red buttons on the side of the date stamp. This effectively locks the date stamp in a downward position. The date stamp portion will not be flush with the surface, so there won't be any ink transfer to your work surface. Flip the date stamp upside down with the red buttons still locked in, which will allow you to read the date. Use the gear wheels to change the date to whichever date you desire. My date stamp is for years 2014 through 2025, so just over a decade and I suspect the stamper will probably last that long. For those of you that are curious, the stamp has all 12 months in their three letter abbreviation format, numbers 0-9 as well as a dash - or a slash / for the two day numbers, followed by 2014 through 2025.Enjoy!

Ink on fingers
It’s a great product but kind of tricky to figure out how to change the date effectively/efficiently. When you go to move the knobs to change the date, the ink gets on your fingers. So far I’ve had the product for a few months and it’s been working well for marking the date on classroom assignments (kindergarten) for easy organization. Sometimes portions of the date are missing or have faint numbers, but it’s not the biggest deal to write over those missing numbers. Still more efficient than handwriting every date on every child’s assignments!

Does what it should. No complaints so far. Easy to assemble.
I was worried when I ordered this mainly because of the negative reviews but realized they were unfounded. This stamp was incredibly easy to assemble if you can even call simply sliding the ink cartridge as "assemble". It might be a bit of an annoyance to not get a detailed explanation on how to put in the ink but really, it doesn't take a genius to figure it out. The pictures on the box was sufficient enough. Simply pull out the rectangular cover of the cartridge then slide it in, ink side down (again, common sense since the rubber part with the dates can only touch the ink when it's faced this way). Just push it all the way in until the small tabs on the side snap off, and done. If you can't press the stamp down all the way, it means the ink cartridge isn't pushed all the way as it should be and simply push it in further until it's perfectly flush on the other side.I figured all this out in less than a minute and I've never even owned a stamp like this before. Which brings me to my current possible issue. I don't know much about ink pads and the technology behind it (if it even has any) but I figured those manual stamps you can usually find in craft stores have ink pads with covers so it doesn't dry up. I don't know if the ink pad on this one will up dry faster because it's always exposed or not but I hope that's not the case. Also, I'm not quite sure what the significance is for the stamped date on the box. Mine says "17 Nov 2026" but my stamp goes from 2018 to 2028 and the format is in Month/Day/Year so it doesn't really relate to the example on the box at all.I'll update my review some time in the future and see how long this one cartridge will last. But for now, 5/5 for this self-inking stamp! Easy to use, portable (might put it in its own separate bag to avoid other things catching ink), and stamps very well. I highly recommend this product!

Still using 1 1/2 years later and haven't had any issues and no need to refill the ink....I use it multiple times daily....definitely recommend......

Great Idea but Issues...
I purchased this stamp to date envelopes easier in my classroom. While it makes my life a lot easier, the stamp gets stuck so much, and it is very difficult to get it to flip back to re-ink itself. I ended up just pulling the ink pad out and inking it myself since it is stuck down all the time.
