Had bought a great 9 mm Pipe and smoked some PS3 tobacco with a different filter and it was awful. Used the Vauen and it made all the difference in the world. Really created a smooth smoke and no tongue bite. Highly recommend.

As I got a little older I find that I'm sensitive to nicotine. I can't stand getting dizzy. Nicotine also increases blood pressure. The tars aren't good for you either. The moisture and steam can cause tongue and mouth burn. These stop all of that, and I do not notice any decrease in flavor. They also prevent the tobacco and ash from coming up the stem and into your mouth. I never noticed a draw problem either.I usually discard after each smoke and they're cheap enough to go fresh every time.I can't think of any good reason to not use them.Now I only buy pipes that can take a 9mm filter.I even bought a box of the 6mm ones for my Savinelli that takes the smaller size.

I have been using this product for near 12 years and one makes the best active charcoal filters hands down. The pellets inside are small, allowing for more of them, in order to remove even more tar. However, the new model changed things and seems to use ceramic on both ends. Up to last year, one end was a thin plastic mesh and the other side was a thicker ceramic this allows more number of pellets inside the filter. But switching to ceramic on both sides caused the number of the pellets to reduce and make the product overall less high quality. Please bring back the old design that fits more pellets in each filter. Thank you

Filters out tars to keep it out of your lungs

If you're having trouble with tongue bite, the 9mm active charcoal Vauen is the way to go. It really smooths out and cools the smoke. Do not make the mistake of going cheap with the Sanda stuff. Sanda involves no charcoal and may even be toxic. In general, do not buy any consumable pipe stuff made in China. When it comes to pipe stuff, go American or European EVERY TIME. Vauen recommends you dispose of it after each use (it breaks down to about 20 cents a piece); but you can go through two bowls for each unit. And remember: the blue side goes into the stem.

I've tried other brands these are made in Germany I think but much better than the rest highly recommend
