I like it, but too many Americanisms
This looked, and sounded, like a perfect little book for my 5.5 years old granddaughter to (try to) read by herself, or to have read to her - but I’m sorry to say that it irked me from the second paragraph of the first story when it referred to ‘mom’, and continued with ‘kindergarten’, ‘3rd grade’, ’homeroom teacher’, seat mate’, ‘second grader’, ‘cross walk’, ‘clerk’, ‘dollars’, etc. and continued with these Americanisms throughout the book’s seven stories. Yes, I read it all, but I haven’t given to my granddaughter yet.I feel that, to sell this book in the UK, it should contain English words like mum, pre-school, infant school, class teacher, class mate (or friend), 8 year olds, zebra crossing, sales assistant, pounds, and more. Not only that but, numerous words being spelt/written the American way – e.g. “favorite, color, math” – as well as phrases such as “go get” (instead of “go and get”), will do nothing to encourage good English grammar in British children. If there were different versions of this book i.e American, and English, then I might have given it five stars (despite it’s amateurish composition). Each of the seven stories relates to a different topic, the likes of which most young girls will encounter at some time in their life..... hence they will recognise themselves, and identify with the girls in the book. The font is of a good size which young girls will be able to read along with, especially if they are unable to read the whole book alone. But if I was reading this book aloud to my granddaughter I would substitute American dialect for English as I went along. It’s a shame, because basically this is a good book, intended to aid the healthy mental development of girls, as well as boys. I just feel it could be improved.

Niece loves it!
I often babysit my niece, and like a lot of young children these days, they are developing self-esteem issues far too early in their life. Social media is to blame for this.I came across this book and thought it would be a good idea to get it and read it to her when she sleeps over. It's an incredibly powerful book, why? Because my niece has started to ask a lot of questions regarding it and it's helping her understand the importance of being compassionate and loving towards herself. We are on our 3rd read now and she still loves it every time. I can always see her self-confidence improving, she used to shy away from photos, but now she genuinely has a proud smile on her face, knowing she's beautiful.Highly recommend this book to every parent out there and to read this multiple times (positive reinforcement).I would love to see a version of the book made for boys because my nephew also has self-esteem issues and I think it would benefit him massively.Thank you!

Waste of paper
Through the pictures on Amazon I got the impression that this book is in color and I can show them while reading trough. BUT NO!This nearly 11 Pounds book has black and white pictures in it. A childrens book with black and white pictures!? How can somebody sell a childrens book with b/w illustrations for 11 pounds? Other known UK authors offer fully colorized kids book for a suitable price. We storyline in many of those stories does not even make sense. The book is fully americanized with terms a UK speaking child does not understand.Totally waste of paper.

Don’t judge a book by its cover
They say you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Unfortunately, my 8yo girl and I did, and fell for the cute, cover! This book does not contain any stories I would consider inspiring for young girls. Let alone any colourful images you might expect from looking at the cover. "You Are a Wonderful Girl" claims to contain several stories "for girls about Courage, Inner Strength, and Confidence" yet only some of the stories feature actual those topics.Extremely disappointing!!. I read through a couple of stories and I had to re-read some sentences due to the shocking grammar!.I don’t think it’s even been proof read and I can’t believe it’s been published really!.The whole book contains a lot of errors which would easily have been picked up by a second pair of eyes before publication .I would like the author to discuss the grammar with my 8 yr old daughter

Brilliantly reassuring and positive
This is a very nicely written story with super cute pictures. Many little stories of girls starting out at school, having to deal with the spotlight of tasks at school like reciting poetry or worrying over grades plus other stepping up situations like going shopping or sorting out problems. All in all, I liked this book and think that young girls will relate to appreciate the situations.

Fantastic book
I liked it very muchThe book is very lovingly designed and the stories are exciting and easy to read. A great book to improve self-confidence for girls. Children have to deal with a lot of fears these days, so I definitely recommend this book. Hopefully there will be one for boys soon. The mandalas are great too!

Wonderful!!
My friend has suggested this book, which I think is good for young children for developing their self-esteem which will help them to be compassionate toward themselves.Out of curiosity, I have read this book, the layout and content are attractive. I will recommend this book to everyone. The aspect of colouring was great! children's will love it.
