I miss the Edens something fierce
💚 Christmas in Quincy by Devney Perry 💚The Edens prequel, Book 0.5Interconnected standalone novella⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Adult • Romance144 pages🧁 bodyguard romance🏨 close proximity🧁 boss’s daughter🏨 small town🧁 close proximity🏨 dislike to love📍 “Because it would give too much away. I worried that if I showed how much I loved your food, everyone would see.”“See what?”“That I’m in love with you.”I always believed that writing a good novella is, in many ways, harder than writing a full length novel. Sure, it has less pages. But to make it feel like a complete story? That’s hard. So, it always amazes me when an author can pull it off. But it really shouldn’t. Not this time. Devney Perry has taught me she can deliver big. Over and over again. And Christmas in Quincy is no exception.Cleo and Austin’s story didn’t feel rushed. It didn’t feel incomplete. Cleo and Austin’s story was pure gold with Christmas in Quincy as the perfect background. Their attraction, their banter, their past. Goodness, it was incredible. Everything felt so natural. So inevitable. Not sure how I feel about Mateo winking at her but I’ll allow it 🤨

Great Intro
Novellas are a tricky thing for me, I really love books with a lot of character development which is just hard to do in a short format, which is why I normally only like novellas that take place with already established characters. This one is an intro to a series, which is another one of my exceptions for novellas, so I figured I would give it a shot.I want to say first off that I really liked this introduction to the town, the characters in the book aren’t local, they are on vacation, so we get to see the town through their eyes. I think this is a great way to set up a series that takes place in a town.I also really liked that these characters had a years long preexisting relationship (or what seems like dislike), so it’s believable that things would develop, it doesn’t feel like insta-love which I generally don’t like. It feels authentic.I really liked Cleo, my biggest problem with her is that while reading the book all I wanted to do was eat a cupcake or a muffin (she’s a pastry chef). I love that she feels very down to earth even though he dad massively rich. I also like that she is doing this for herself, that she ran away to Montana for a much needed vacation and space from her overwhelming family life. She’s a grown woman, she deserves to stand on her own.Austin is also really likable. He’s a self-made man. He’s a good son and a good brother. He basically has a crush on Cleo, the woman he is suppose to be guarding through his security firm, which he knows is a bad idea, so he’s kind of mean to her as a way to protect himself. It definitely pulls at the heartstrings when he really sees that he hurts her feelings.I liked the two of them together, I liked the epilogue, and I really liked the town. I’m excited to read the series.

Cute
This is a cute, quick romance about Cleo Hillcrest and Austin Myles. Cleo comes to Quincy, Montana, for a vacation over Christmas. She has always been under her father's thumb and she needed to get away. Austin is in charge of the security team for her and, unknown to Cleo, is also there in Quincy to watch and protect her. She is not happy about it when she finds out.Cleo thinks that Austin hates her and that's what he wants her to think. He feels way too much where Cleo is concerned and he needs this job. If he let his feelings be known, he knows he would be fired. Of course, Cleo has always had feelings for him, too.I like that we did get an introduction to some of the Edens in this book. It didn't truly feel part of The Edens series as they weren't the main focus. Enjoyable, but I should have read it before Juniper Hill as I would have understood some of the mentions about Cleo better.

Maybe it’s Quincy…
I picked this novella up after reading all of the currently available books in this series. I’d heard Cleo’s name here and there but I was worried I wouldn’t feel as close to her because she wasn’t an Eden. Silly me.I loved her from the very first chapter. She was funny, strong, and stubborn. The perfect make of a great FMC. Pair her with the broody bodyguard and their story quickly became one I couldn’t put down. I read this book in less than three hours (not counting when I had to tear myself away to sleep).Their banter was so well written and when they finally professed their true feelings my sensitive butt cried. They didn’t care what would come of them standing up for their love and it really tugged at my heartstrings.I thought maybe I loved the Edens too much to love a story in their town that wasn’t about them, but I’m starting to believe I’m just in love with this whole world Devney created for us to enjoy.

Prequel/novella to The Eden Series
3.5-4.0 StarsWe are first introduced to the lovely town of Quincy Montana in Christmas in Quincy, a prequel (novella) to The Edens series by Devney Perry.Cleo Hillcrest is tired of pretending to the fake people at her father’s and stepmother’s parties. She decides to skip them and instead take a short vacation to Quincy for a quiet and relaxing Christmas. The Eloise Inn is run by Eloise Eden and is beautiful. Cleo is not surprised when her father calls demanding she return home. What does surprise Cleo is when Austin Myles, the head of her father’s security, shows up at her door to personally escort her back to California.I thought Cleo was a great character and I liked her very much. I did like Austin too, but he was unnecessarily unkind to Cleo at times. Both fought an attraction towards the other that neither knew existed, so I get this was Austin’s way of forcing distance and keeping things professional. The story was overall cute and I did enjoy it, however the first book in the series Indigo Ridge is so much better. It’s a great book and I’m looking forward to the entire series.

A new place to love.
A new place to love.4,5 stars.I’ve read everything this author’s written so far and I love every single book by her.She has this way of creating a magical place, dreamy characters and adorable plots, no matter how short or long the story is.And it wasn’t different this time. This novella starts a new series set in Montana, this time in the adorable Quincy. It’s a forbidden romance so sweet that I couldn’t stop reading until I reached “the end”.After having a huge crush on each other for years, they are forced to stay together during Christmas in Quincy, and the feelings they tried so hard to hide can no longer be ignored. It was adorable and so enticing.I can’t wait for more books in this series.

A great introduction to Edens and Quincy.
I LOVE the bodyguard troupe and the only thing I wanted was for the book to be longer because I loved both Cleo and Austin and I ended the book wanting to see more developments in their relationship and in the Cleo’s relationship with her father.I would love to see how their life were when they got back to California.(Devney Perry please write a whole book about them).I hope they both appear later in the series. If you are looking for a light novella, sweet, with bodyguards and set at Christmas, this is the perfect one.

Short & Sweet!
It was a short, sweet and adorable read. Just what I needed to get myself out of a reading slump. Cleo & Austin were amazing together. I couldn't get enough of them! It was a good introduction to the series and I liked the way Cleo met Eloise, Knox & Matteo. Looking forward to read every Eden siblings' book!
