Looks good. There were no damaged or missing pieces. All pieces were clearly marked and the instructions were very good. The parts fit the pre-drilled holes -- I had no problems assembling this piece. The bookcase is stable on my floor. I am happy with this purchase. I have bought products from this manufacturer before and I haven't been sorry.Regarding purchases of particle board furniture: I felt this was a good purchase for my home office. I read a lot of reviews before deciding on what to buy and I think some people don't understand this material. Particle board is both heavier and WEAKER than solid wood. That is why it is so much less expensive than a solid wood bookshelf which could easily cost 3 times as much. This means the shelves will sag if you put too much weight on them, or if the weight is not EVENLY distributed across the width of the board.The manual for this bookcase indicates the following max weightstop of bookcase 35 lbsadjustable shelves 25 lbs eachbottom shelf 40 lbsYou cannot load the shelf up with heavy stuff (including books) if you don't want the shelves to sag. Placing heavy books in the center of a 25-pound shelf will absolutely cause it to sag over time even if the books weigh less than 25 pounds because the weight is all in one place. If this is a problem, you should look for solid wood or something with metal supports under the shelves. There are youtube videos showing how some people have added solid wood framing around the particle board bookcases to strengthen them. (Not just sauder, but ikea and other manufacturer shelving -- they all have the same issues.) Personally at that point I would just pay the extra money for more expensive solid wood shelves but that's just me.Particle board does crack easily and can be damaged in shipping if the package gets dropped. The Sauder website has a link to reorder individual parts if something is missing/broken. I've been lucky and have not had to use the service. It's just a chance you take when you purchase this type of product.

This bookshelf holds the weight of books and other items very well. It is very well built and attractive. The small details and ease of assembly are a real plus. I'm delighted with this purchase. It is more than worth the very reasonable price. I plan to purchase more pieces in this furniture line for my home.

I spent a lot of time looking at bookcases on Amazon & other places. I took the time to read the reviews on the items that I narrowed down as possibilities. While this item had negative reviews, it also had many positive reviews. Many of the reviews also contained tips for assembly and I found some of these to be helpful.This item arrived well packaged & with no damage. I inspected each piece before assembly & to ensure everything was included. The instructions were clear & I took my time in assembly to make sure pieces fit together as intended. It went together with no problem in a bit over an hour. Everything lined up & was flush. The only exception was the backing. I do not believe it is as square as it should be. However, I still had no problem attaching it, but was careful with nail placement.Overall, I believe that this was a good value for the finishing product. It's certainly not an heirloom product, but finished, it is attractive, sturdy, and works perfectly for our use in our home office area. I would recommend this bookcase to others.

I love the chalked chestnut finish. It's very pretty, but it was very hard to assemble by myself. It's made of particle board and an inside corner broke when I was tightening a cam. I wasn't over tightening either. It seems stable and looks very pretty. The broken corner is hidden thank goodness.

Was super excited about this purchase and still am. Super sturdy, easy to put together, and it is ACTUAL wood! Not that fake stuff most people call "wood" either. This is the real deal. Highly recommend if you're looking for a wooden bookshelf and great design, as well as simple and easy to put together. Heavy duty and worth every penny. When we have more space, I hope to order a couple more of these myself, too.

Looks nice. Sturdy and easy to put together

It's astonishing the quality of this flat pack! This isn't one of those silly paid reviews either. 100% honest and unbiased. The finish on the laminate print is extremely well done. Also, the MDF used is extremely dense and sturdy. Mine arrived with a couple damaged pieces, but that was obviously due to a forklift or something penetrating the box. Sauder has a no questions asked free replacement parts and shipping policy on their website. I got my replacements about a week later in perfect condition.I wish the top had a bit more support. The backing is very important to the strength, so use ALL the provided nails to secure it. I would advise against placing anything heavy on the top (over ~20lbs). Construction on this thing is top notch. I am really surprised that in an age of every cheaper manufacturing processes, this one actually comes out as quality. I'll be specifically looking for Sauder pieces now as they truly offer a good product for a good price.

Quick delivery, solid and looks very nice!!!

Item came on time as expected and was easily assembled. Looks great once it is all put together, it could have been made of a bit more substantial material for the price paid. Seems as if the screw/cam system into the pressed wood could fail fairly easily.
