Dihl 30L Stainless Steel Rectangle Automatic Kitchen Sensor Bin-Purple

Think and read reviews before buying. The bin worked fine for about 5 months before the lid stopped opening correctly, it only opened half way and did not close correctly leaving a 1cm gap.On contacting the supplier of this bin ToYourHomeLtd I had no joy in getting a replacement as they said I had not used the bin correctly, It’s a bin how can you not use it correctly the lid opens(hopefully) and you put things in.If you are considering buying this bin please donot buy from ToYourHomeLtd as you will have the same problems their customer services require serious training and a more helpful attitude.

I love the look of this bin. It is well finished and fits neatly into a dead space in the kitchen. The mechanism for lid-opening is efficient and easy to use, but you must bear in mind that the opening you put the rubbish in is only as big as the opening lid 25 x 15cm. This hasn't caused me a problem but it has for some members of the household who try to push bigger things in, or who scrape plates rather carelessly.I would have given 5* for this product , but I couldn't because I find the sensor far too sensitive. The lid will open when walking past the bin - haven't worked out why yet - and if we open the door the bin comes out in sympathy! Just a small tweak and this bin would be perfect.

The first time I purchased this bin, the sensor stopped working within a week. They sent me a replacement which is the same. The sensor of the lid either opens and closes very fast or sone days it does bot open at all. I just turned it off but what is the point of having a sensor bin if I can not use it? Have to use it manually when the lid should be automatic. I am not happy with this item. On top of it, no one bothered to collect it, I had to carry it to the post office with my baby in his buggy, so you can imagine ny struggle!

Arrived well packaged and undamaged, the addition of batteries was easy, a reminder to those like me who rarely read manuals, there is a switch on the back of the bin lid. Useful fir disabling the bin, during the onslaught of overexuberant battery flattening grand children!The detector is efficient, when you figure which way it is "looking", it does occasionally trigger if folks walk past it with a hand at trigger height! But then it should, as it cannot yet divine human intent!Mucky hands with rubbish on them are no longer making a mess of the bin lid. Good size and is easy to empty.Don't forget to re enable when the grand kids have departed!

The mechanism employs plastic moving parts, which is a problem and will eventually cause the cog-like part of the lid to break off (it actually happened to my previous Dihl bin). At least they could have used tougher material for those cogs and attach is better to the lid or something.The functionality to open the bin with a button got me excited at first, because sometimes I would like to keep the bin open for the whole duration of me cooking. However, the bin automatically closes very soon after you open it with a button, so it makes me wonder - what is the point of even doing this? If I open with the sensor - it should close automatically. If I open with a button - it should close with a button.It should also be able to detect that I am still standing next to it and not close while I'm trying to clean a plate into the bin. I think they could have put in a short range sensor for opening and a longer range sensor for keeping it open.Looks like not much QA went into this, because these are basic points that I don't think would be too unreasonable to expect.I had the previous version of this bin (fully round) and was expecting the next iteration to be an improvement, but they have kept all the weak points from the previous version, which is quite disappointing.

For the price this is a great little find. I have wanted an expensive bin for ages but always begrudge paying the money for them. Thought I would give this a go for the money and it’s fab! Love the automatic lid and for the price, it doesn’t matter how long it lasts as you can use it manually anyway!

I really like this, using it is very easy!The downside is the motion detection can be too sensitive, lifts up as you’re walking by it-tried it at different spots of the kitchen...and it does this regardless of where it’s placed!It’s a little annoying, but not a dealbreaker.The thing that did annoy me most is that this is meant to store 50 litres and it doesn’t. I previously used a 40 litre one and this is how i can tell. It holds the exact same amount!!This is disappointing as I really wanted one that held more. It’s also very difficult to get the bag out when it’s full, so you find yourself not wanting to fill it to the top Incase the bags splits when pulling it out.For this it’s lost 2 stars, as it’s massively irritating when the bag splits and you have to re-bag it!Maybe this happens with all garbage bins shaped like this, I may try some really strong bags.I’d recommend it, but only for the motion sensor, as this is very handy and for the fact it looks good in the kitchen

Great bin with a stainless steel finish,it was just what we were looking for, wide but with a shallow depth to fit in a little area in the kitchen. The only downside is that the sensor can be a little too sensitive and just walking past it will open the lid and if you not quick enough the lid will close midway through emptying something into it, instead of registering that you are still covering the sensor, Nether the less would definately recommend this
