Cheap materials, Impractical design
The materials are really cheap, not very durable. The screen is not scratched, is the protection film. The aiming is really impractical, it doesn't work like they intended to make it work (the light reflection is not going to go straight where you are looking). The whistle after trying different positions I made it work (there is a exit hole for the air, just make sure you don't obstruct it). Seen similar almost the same product from different sellers, with different brand names should make you doubt before buying it.

Works.Was a few hundred yards from partner kayaker and she said it looks bright.Doesn't seem as if it was as "good" or as tuff as the genuine military issue, but it works fine and does what it is supposed to do.Might be my memory is wrong but I recall being able to easier use the sighting hole in the mil-issue mirrors than this item, but like I said, it took me only a few seconds to acquire the reflection and direct it to my target.

Came in already scratched up
"made of quality acrylic material" more like made of easily scratched up junk.Eye hole is small. Why make it into a star shape? Really... sucks.Definitely not as lightweight as "lightweight" terms tend to be.Whistle sucks too. If you don't know how to whistle, then use it. Otherwise, you're better off trying to whistle with your fingers.Lanyard... not sure if it's 550 cord. But it's thin. As if they took a few strands out of it.I might as well as return it. lul

Great mirror, bad whistle
As far as a signal mirror this is really great. That's what I really wanted so I'm not too disappointed. That said the fact this had a whistle also was a feature I was looking forward to. But it isn't sealed nor does it fit together properly, so it requires a lot of air to blow and not much sound comes out. It was like that on both of the ones I got. So if you need a mirror this is good but don't count on the whistle

Good to have in case.
Looks to be a OK signal mirror. Not quite up to the mil specs ones I had in Army. Hope not to need them. But better having than the other way around. On A.D. I had the 4x6 and one the same size as these. The larger one was in my shaving bag always.
