A well designed pen and durable for everyday use
This entire line by Conklin (All American) is a great value for the money. These are my everyday pens. I have both fine and medium nibs, for stainless nibs they are somewhere between smooth and normal depending on the paper used. No false starts or gaps in ink flow. The bodies are thick and a little on the large size, which I like and still fit in my shirt or sport coat's front pocket. The pens are light considering their size. I'm sold on this line and am in the slow process of getting few different patterns for my collection.

Phenomenal Fountain Pen- An American Legend
This pen arrived in a very nice display box with paperwork, two ink cartridges and a twist in converter that is specific to Conklin fountain pens. The celluloid outer of the pen and cap are pristine and just SO gorgeous. It’s the perfect weight as well, not heavy and not too light. The clip is perfect and well attached too and easily slips in and out of pockets and pen pouches. It feels great in your hand. You’ll love this pen.

Well-made body and cap; pity about the nib
The reborn Conklin Pen Company does a very good job of making fountain pen barrels and caps. Unfortunately whoever makes their steel nibs is not performing at the same level. The All American series is a large, cigar-shaped pen that fits nicely in the hand. The resin used has good color and a high polished finish. The threads on the barrel and cap mate perfectly, as does the grip section and the barrel. The converter is somewhat disappointing as average at best. If you are intending to use cartridges that is a better idea. The steel nib is a good size, but there ends the "good". Although it is fairly smooth on my standard Clairefontaine test paper, it is a completely unacceptable non-starter. Even freshly filled and dipped, the nib skips and writes dry. Each time the nib is picked up from the paper it reverts to not writing. Of all the steel nibs I have used -- including Lamy, Pelikan, Monteverde, Parker, Waterman, and TWSBI -- this is by far the worst.Verdict: a disappointing performance from an otherwise well-made pen.

Pretty pen, poor nib and feed.
I bought a medium nib, and it's one of the scratchiest I've seen out of the box. The pen is constantly running dry on a wide variety of inks.

Conklin fountain pens are good, clean fun.
If you've already chosen the path of a fountain pen user, you probably did so because you enjoy writing with them and don't mind their idiosyncrasies, and occasional misbehaviors. You probably think its fun to fill them with interesting colors of ink, and write you thoughts down on exotic papers and journals. And you be right to do so--that's the whole point of using a fountain pen--fun and enjoyment. On the other hand, it can also become an expensive indulgence--there is no ceiling when it comes to fountain pen prices (I have seen pens that exceed the cost of a modest home). Fortunately, you don't have to buy an obscenely expensive pen to have a good time. Conklins are good examples. The "All American" is a little more eccentric than most Conklins (it's on the porky side, girth-wise), and the colors aren't geared to the mild-mannered Clark Kents in the audience--especially this color. In truth, mine is slightly less bright than the picture above, but there is no getting around the fact that this is a very orange pen (electric tangerine comes to mind). If the color hasn't frighted you away, you're ready for the cold, hard facts. This is a conservative pen, wearing a loud suit. Conklins are not exotic, their guts are simple: a good nib (often very smooth) and a functional feed; both of which are connected to a reliable, but puny converter (don't get me started on cartridges). So the stuff that counts--how it writes--are Ford and Chevy-simple (they work). I admit, their converters don't hold a lot of ink--most converters don't. And I don't mind admitting I generally become bored of the color, long before my pens run out of ink. So, you get an exotic looking body (acrylic, not celluloid) in a bunch of historically inspired styles and colors, for a very decent price when you buy a Conklin. If you want to really step out on the edge and "hang-ten", order one with a Stub Nib. If you prefer a Fine, you won't be disappointed, most of mine are Fine. I can't speak for the Mediums, and if you're considering this pen in Orange, I suspect you're not a middle-of-the-road type, either. I suppose I could give it one less star because it's not a Pelikan, doesn't have an exotic fill mechanism or solid gold nib, but that's not what you were expecting when you order a Conklin. This is a fun pen that works. Buy one and have a good time.

Beautiful beyond words!
Very retro looking, great quality, web photos do NOT do it justice. I have inked it and the Medium nib writes smoothly, great ink flow, no scratchiness. I own another Conklin pen and it also writes like a charm. Writing with the cap posted onto the bottom is great as the pen is not too heavy, but is a comfortable size. I am a Conklin fan!

Buen diseño
Buena escritura y cómoda al escribir,su tamaño puede ser grande para algunos tipos de manos, el único pero que no sella bien el convertidor de la pluma por lo que tiende a tener fugas la tinta.
