This monitor seems too good to be true, and it kinda is. Maybe you'll have better luck?
I know what you're thinking. This monitor seems too good to be true. And all those other reviews seem fake. (They are.) Well, I'm an actual person, who actually bought it, as a gift to my father for the holidays. He was using four crappy monitors splayed all over his desk like some sort of sad Stonehenge. So, reasoning that raw resolution and desk space are the priorities here, I got him this, the cheapest and best-specced 4k monitor I could find. Also, it's curved! The only words on the internet I could find about this monitor was a thread over on Hardforums where people tried this. The chief complaints seemed to be backlight bleeding and poor uniformity. Several people returned theirs. I decided to take the plunge anyway.First off, shipping speed. It arrived in less than 48 hours from Korea to Florida and made it in time for the holidays. Awesome! After a graphics card upgrade and a Displayport cable purchase, we were up and running.Yeah, the backlight bleeds like hell, especially around the corners, making black screens appear more like a comforter draped over a lamp.Yeah, the uniformity sucks, especially around the middle where the curves 'meet.' There are two rippling diagonal darker silhouettes banding across from the bottom middle to the ends of the monitor, and they're most visible when you're looking at the monitor from the side. Head on, it's not that noticeable. But my dear old dad? He couldn't be happier. He doesn't care about panel uniformity or backlight bleeding. He doesn't care about response time or anything else. He cares that we took all those gross old monitors off his desk and he now has a sleek curved 40 inch 3840x2160 screen to do all of his business work on. And that's why I got him this thing. He's over the moon.Well... until today. Today, the monitor started flaking out. Every half an hour or so, it'll show some video/corruption artifacts, and then turn off and show a black screen. Sometimes it comes back to displaying the computer after a few minutes; sometimes we have to turn it off and on. Here's hoping it's not a quality control issue because aside from the backlight/uniformity nitpicks, this has the potential to be the very best business/programming monitor you can get for this price. I'll update if we decided to send it out for an RMA/warranty service.Update: Sent out for a refund. The seller to their credit was very responsive and supportive, offering troubleshooting and firmware updates to try. Nothing worked, so back to Incheon, Korea it went. Refund was prompt and in full.Should you buy this? I don't know. There really is no better 40" 4k curved monitor for this price. Perhaps you'll have better luck? Care to roll the dice?
