Nice imagining of the Shardlake stories.
Having read all the Shardlake books I was looking forward to listening to this and I wasn't disappointed. The Shardlake books are very rich and the plots are detailed and absorbing. Inevitably there has been some simplification and editing to fit the radio format and timings, but overall, it works. Shardlake and Barak are excellent. I did feel that Richard Rich came over a little "pantomime villain" but you could argue he is a bit like that in the books. I think my favourite episode was "Heartstone". The tragedy of the deaths of the soldiers on the Mary Rose, one of the most powerful episodes in the books comes over well.Overall, an excellent dramatisation.

If you liked the books this radio adaptation is amazing!
This offers an audible sensory version of the books. Having read the books I appreciate how the BBC adaptation has followed but more concisely focussing on the key aspects of the story. It brought the characters to life having different actors read the script. I listened on a 7 hour journey to Scotland & the hours flew by. Thoroughly enjoyed the adaptation. This was bought as part of free trial of Audible & for this I feel so will continue my subscription. I have many negative issues with BBC at this current time but this Audible adaptation is excellent. Well done - I will give credit where credit is due.

Fantastic!
I loved the Shardlake books and this is a condensed form of the book. I sat for hours listening to it, but was disappointed that Jason Watkins didn’t do the whole series, he was brilliant in the first episode.

Just buy the books instead!
Loved this but 1 star because the audiobooks are so much better! I have now started to buy the audiobooks - so recommend that you cut out the watered down version and go directly onto the grown ups version!
