Laces Come Apart Too Frequently
Laces come loose all of the time. It starts on the uppers above the ankle and then works it way down. A real pain in the arse to wear these. So, I purchased some hiking shoes with BOA type laces.

best waterproof mid shoes on the market
Soloman makes a great shoe and this model is no exception. I got wide to compensate for heated insoles and warm socks. My go-to snowshoeing boots.

True to Euro size
I know my European shoe size. Salomon is a European brand, so their Euro size was spot on. These shoes are very light and extremely comfortable. They offer very good grip and are very warm. I wore them in December in Northeastern US and didn't feel cold.

Should have ordered 4 more pairs.
Excellent fit. Comfy as a tennis shoe right out of the box. Durable, yet super lightweight. Everything I've cone to expect from Salomon.

Zero cushioning on heel
When I tried these on and wore them in the house they felt great. However, once I took them out on the trail I noticed hot spots on the back of my heel. For average, easy hikes they are fine. However, when I have to go up some significantly steep inclines I feel my heel pressing into the back of the shoe. The problem with this shoe is there is zero cushioning in the heel. When comparing them to altra lone peaks and la sportiva raptors this shoe is bare in heel cushioning. Additionally, there is a hard thread/seam right on the back of the shoe. Which comes into direct contact with back of your heel. I just don’t know what Solomon was thinking in designing these shoes. I regret buying them and wish I could exchange them. Some advice when you get these. Put the toe of the shoe on the edge of a ledge/stair. Then push your heal down into the back of the shoe. If you feel any pain these will not work on the trail. Good luck.

Sleek, modern, lacking...
I’m not sure if I received a bad pair unrepresentative of the model as a whole, but this iteration frustratingly & perplexingly has little to no cushioning in the forefoot. Certainly not enough for hiking. When you can feel the ground on the ball of your foot while in the kitchen, it’s going to be a struggle when on rock. The upper build quality also seems less supportive, trading a bit of rigidity (not to be confused with stiffness) for less weight. If I were you, highly recommend grabbing the Ultra 3s when they go on sale soon rather than a downgrade in the 4s at full price. Also: if, like me, you thought the Ultra might be the answer, but need that forefoot cushioning: I can’t recommend the La Sportiva Ultra Raptor II Mid highly enough. Right there with the Ultra 3 as best option for lightweight support, cushioning, comfort & traction (runs very narrow like the Ultra; the wide version fits like the Merrell MOAB D width).

Roomier than the shoe version
I tried same size of x ultra 4 vs this mid and wanted to say the mid is not just a taller version of the shoe. The mid allows more room for putting foot into shoe, as well as has more room in the width of the toe box.

Nothing better than this. Detailed review below.
Been wanting and waiting for this shoe since 1 month. This is the best shoe that you can buy if you're into hiking and trekking.Size - True to size (Runs slightly larger due to wide size) would suggest true to size. Here are the pros and cons of the shoe.Pros. -The top selling shoe worldwide for all kinds of hikings and trekkings.Comfortable fit with wide fit for those with wide feet.Waterproofed by Goretex.Rugged design with aggressive outsole for those slippery terrains. You can absolutely wear this shoe on any terrain and even on casual wear.Cons -The price is very high as compared to the worldwide price.Other colourways not available in India(wanted the white butterscotch variant). This shoe isn't available anywhere in India (searched the whole internet and friend circle for this shoe).Summary -If you got the money. Definitely buy these without even thinking of any alternative option as there are no competitors for this shoe. These will definitely be with you for the next 5-6 years easily.Go for True to Size.

Best trekking shoes
I had Salomon X Ultra 2 mid GTX which I have used for 6 Himalayan & few Sahyadri treks but the toe cap broke in the last trek. Upgraded to Salomon X Ultra 4 mid wide GTX. Although I have narrow feet but I still find the wide more comfortable. You can fit snugly by tightening the laces and it leave some room in toes to wriggle.

Shoes are tearing in one month of moderate use.
Within a month of light to moderate use the shoes are tearing at the seems. This has compromised the waterproofing. Big fan of the brand but this is very disappointing!
