Great Except for the HARD plastic ergonomic seat!
This product is very nice except for the seat. The seat is NOT soft as advertised in the listing. Its a hard molded plastic that does not have any cushion whatsoever. After contacting Invacare they indicated the seat I received was correct and that the Amazon's ad is is incorrect and claimed they (Invacare) didn't write the ad. So now I'm stuck and have to buy an additional add-on accessory to make it soft. Amazon will only return the product.

It's a beast
I bought this chair for safety. I use a wheelchair and it was getting dangerous for me to transfer from my wheelchair to the bench in the shower. I always felt like i was balancing. This chair is big. It almost filled my roll in shower. The directions are terrible. It came in four boxes, two of which were bashed up.The seat it comes with is supposed to be ergonomic. I'm not really sure about that but i think it's fine for the time it takes to shower. One of the biggest reasons i got this chair was the big rear wheels so i could independently get in and out of the shower. But i couldn't get over the little lip and needed help anyway. The back rubbed on the wheels so i had to unclip and put it on the inside of the frame instead of around it.I am happy with it and it serves my purpose.

Poor design all around
Now that I have had this chair two weeks I would like to add my concerns. In addition to the back canvas slipping and not supporting his back there are a few other suggestions I would like to make. The foot rests do not swivel to the side and are cumbersome. At their highest elevation they still were not high enough to support his feet and therefore he could not use them as balance. The armrests are flimsy and do not lock in place. When my son tries to align himself the armrests come up and he loses his balance and falls back. I have yet to buy a PVC piece of furniture for the disabled that is worth a crap and usually they are non-returnable. It's and expensive $900 tryout only to find that it doesn't work. Wish these engineers would consult with the parents/caregivers for our opinions.

Not for independent use
This chair was not suitable for me. As an independent paraplegic, the arms are made too short and on transferring to and from I got a nice cut on my back from the sharp material holding the arms.

A better and cheaper solution than having to modify my bathroom door.
My husband's wheelchair was too wide to go through the bathroom door. This chair fits through the door and is relatively easy to roll, even over the carpet in the bedroom and hallway. And, the swivel casters make it easy to rotate in place - no turn radius required. In our case it doesn't work for anything other than getting into the bathroom since I have to push/pull the chair for my husband. He uses his regular wheelchair to get around the house. We needed a chair that the arms could be moved out of the way so my husband could transfer to the bath chair. It only took one or two times using it, though, before both arms came off. Since we're only using it for short trips to the bathtub and back to the bedroom it's not a problem for us so I haven't pursued a way to re-attach the arms.We don't use the commode feature.
