There are no optics in these adapters, basically a small metal tube with fitting either end, as long as they are of decent quality they do the job. Not sure how they would stand up to constant use, but for the occassions I use it they are fine

I use a couple of very elderly M42 manual lenses, one for astro photography and another for belows Macro. This adapter is ideal for both. I have tested the 135mm telelephoto for infinity distance and the focus is correct so the adapter is the correct length (hardly surprising, but needed to check to be certain.)The rotation of the M42 screw-in allows the correct alignment of the focus/ aperture index (only needs to be done once as all M42 lenses are the same for screw in alignment.)When used on an M42 bellows unit it is ideal for ensuring the bellows -> sensor distance is 'standard' 35mm camera distance, so the distance markings are correct. This means magnification calculations are also correct, and equally important the bellows do not run out of adjustment too soon.

Not working at all

This is a great product. Very solidly built and great value for money. However, I'm not certain if this is due to the particular lens I'm using it with, but I can't quite get infinity focus on it. I'm ever so close to it. As the lens is a vintage 400mm zoom, infinity focus is really important. Unfortunately, I don't have another lens to see if the problem is with the lens or the spacing of the adapter.

I’ve been using this adapter for about a week now and I’m really impressed. The materials aren’t the quality of the more expensive adapters from other brands (although I wouldn’t expect them to be at this price) but this doesn’t stop the unit from feeling secure and sturdy when on my camera.The included tool to change the orientation of the mount is a nice touch. Some screw mount lenses have slightly different threads so being able to change the position of the thread mount myself meant I can ensure each of my lenses mount exactly as they would on my old 35mm cameras.Very impressed and I highly recommend. Especially at that price, what’s to hate?

Having had many cameras and lenses over the years, there are some lenses too good to stop using just because they don't fit a current camera. Being able to adapt to my Canon R6, albeit without AF of course, allows these lense to have a new life, possibly producing results RF lenses may not manage, and without the expense of buying a lens which may only be used occasionally.

This was my third attempt at an adapter for a recently purchased M42 lens. Thanks to your adapter and great instructions in the description everything works.

Used this adapter for my Canon RP and Helios 44 lens. Works just fine, have to enable “release shutter without lens” in the camera settings as the camera cant detect that there is a lens attached. Comes with a tiny tool you can use to rotate the adapter so that you can line up the lens focusing/f-stop. Only issue is that you can wobble the adapter ever so slightly when its screwed onto the camera, be careful.
